Panasonic is pleased to introduce two new stylish 16.1-megapixel camera models to the award winning FS series that allows the shooting of clear images with high a quality 28mm wide-angle LEICA DC lens and powerful 8x optical zoom(1).

New 28mm Wide-Angle Powerful 8x Optical Zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR Lens

The 16.1-megapixel FS37 and FS35 package a newly developed 28mm wide-angle high quality LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with powerful 8x optical zoom. Comprising 9 elements in 7 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit realises an outstandingly slim and compact body yet achieving exceptional optical performance

In addition, the DMC-FS37 boasts a Smart Touch Screen with 3.0-inch large Intelligent LCD to offer intuitive touch control including Touch AF, Touch Zoom and Touch Shutter(2).

The zoom ratio can be extended up to 18x at 3 megapixel resolution mode with minimal deterioration thanks to the Extra Optical Zoom. By using the central part of the 16.1-megapixel high resolution 16.1 CCD, this powerful zooming function allows you to easily capture and magnify distant subjects. To help with these technical aspects, the FS37 and FS35 also have an Easy Zoom button to utilise the powerful zoom with ease and comfort. It shifts the lens instantly to full 8x zoom power at a touch. The second touch of the button activates the 18x Extra Optical Zoom Intelligent Zoom to draw even closer into the subject(3).

New 16.1-megapixel High Resolution CCD and High Performance Venus Engine VI
The high-speed, high-performance Venus Engine VI is newly incorporated in both FS models to enable beautiful image recording with higher quality signal processing and now includes Intelligent Resolution technology. With Intelligent Resolution technology, 3 areas — outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas are automatically detected. The outline parts are enhanced effectively to give edges more clearness while giving a moderate accentuation to the texture areas to look more finely detailed. To the soft gradation part, the superior noise reduction process of the Venus Engine VI is applied to make it smoother. Apart from the uniform enhancement of sharpness, this innovative technology precisely performs signal processing pixel by pixel in the most effective way and as a result images are naturally clear and crisp.

The multi-task image-processing engine, Venus Engine VI, supports a super-fast response time. The shutter release time lag is as short as approx. 0.005 of a second and the camera's quick response makes it easier to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment photo opportunities together with the Sonic Speed AF (Auto Focus) that lets you lock on the subject.
The Venus Engine VI also supports a High Sensitivity mode that lets the FS37 and FS35 record at a setting of up to ISO 6400, sensitive enough to capture subjects in near-total darkness without using a flash(4)>.

The iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode for Every Photographer to Be a Good Photographer
Panasonic incorporated Intelligent Auto mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of misshots. This mode is also further advanced with the inclusion of the AF tracking and Intelligent Exposure feature.

With the new AF Tracking function, the user can "lock" the focus onto a moving subject. The camera then automatically tracks the subject as it moves, keeping it in focus without the user having to hold the shutter button halfway down. This makes it easier to capture the perfect moment clearly and in sharp focus when shooting images of a child, pet, sports or any scene with moving subjects and spur-of-the-moment action.

Intelligent Exposure suppresses blocked shadows and blown highlights to capture images that look natural and true-to-life. It now features an automatic backlight compensation function that activates whenever the camera detects that the light source is behind the subject. Intelligent Scene Selector automatically selects whichever of 6 scene modes -- Macro, Portrait, Scenery, Night Portrait, Night Scenery and Sunset - that best suits the shooting situation. The MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) suppresses hand-shake and the Intelligent ISO control prevents moving subject to be blurred by optimizing the shutter speed and ISO sensitivity setting, to render sharp, clear images whatever the shooting situation is. In addition, human faces are captured in focus and appropriate exposure with the Face Detection and it also corrects unwanted red-eye digitally. 

The user can activate all of these useful functions by simply pressing an independent iA button on the top of the camera and make the FS35 and FS37 the ultimate, super-versatile automatic camera for capturing clear, beautiful, mistake-free photos with ease.

Enjoy Instant Image Sharing with Family and Friends
You can now also enjoy your precious moments instantly with family and friends as each camera features LUMIX Image Uploader, a new way of communication by sharing photo or movies. All you have to do is checkmark the photos you want to share and connect the camera to a PC. Uploading starts just by following the simply instructions, allowing you to add comment and notify your friends via e-mail consequently. Facebook can be used for photos and YouTube for movies. 

Technically specified, yet remaining easy to use – the new FS37 and FS35 even record dynamic HD movie in 1280 x 720p at a smooth 24 fps (FS18) / 30fps (FS16), in addition to normal VGA (640 x 480) in Motion JPEG. All movies can be directly uploaded to YouTube via the uploader software or you can enjoy high quality image playback by simply playing connected or loading the memory card into a wide-screen HDTV for full-screen viewing

Further features to expand the fun and convenience for users include built-in memory of 70MB, an Intelligent LCD which automatically adjusts the screen brightness in 11 steps as the surrounding brightness level changes, ensuring easy visibility at all times plus a total of 28 scene modes, such as ‘Baby’ or ‘Pet’, set most appropriate parameter in wide-ranging situations.

For DMC-FS37, Smart Touch Screen for Intuitive Touch-Control Shooting
The DMC-FS37 adopts full touch-screen operation with new Smart Touch Screen. Auto Focus is immediately set to the subject by just touching it on the 3.0-inch large, 230,000-dot, LCD and you can even release the shutter. The 3.0-inch large screen reflects fine details, making it easy to check the focus before shooting. It also serves as a small photo and video viewer, to enjoy playing back the still and motion images.

Once you lock on the subject by a touch, the camera tracks the subject with the AF tracking function, even if it moves. With the Intelligent Scene Selector in the iA mode, the camera automatically switches to the scene mode according to the subject touched. For example, a touch on a human face switches to the portrait mode and a touch on the background or scenery to the scenery mode. All menu setting is now available with touch control and using the shooting screen you can directly touch the icon to change the setting quickly.

The touch-screen operation excels not only for shooting but also for playing back images with outstanding visibility. You can play back the image you want out of hundreds of stocks by touching in the thumbnails. To play back images one by one in order, you can drag the image over the screen with a finger to browse the collection of photos as if you were flipping over the pages of a book.

Both FS37 and FS35(5) feature Intelligent LCD which automatically adjusts the screen brightness in 11 steps as the surrounding brightness level changes, ensuring easy visibility at all times.

Editing with the latest software
The latest version of PHOTOfunSTUDIO comes bundled with the FS35 and FS37. PHOTOfunSTUDIO 6.0 helps to sort and organise thousands of photos and movies with more ease, with quick start-up and fast read-in allowing quick access to the image you want.
For portraits, the Face Recognition function recognises the faces in the picture stored in your PC and sorts your photos in face order. A Panorama Stitch lets you make a panoramic composite in MOV file by synthesising photos taken in Panorama Assist mode of the camera. It is also possible to make a slideshow with the selected photos adding an appropriate music file to accompany.

Dressed in a metallic panel with hairline-curved finish with the popular colour of silver, black and red or silver, black, red and violet the DMC-FS37 and DMC-FS35 with a redesigned easy-to-hold grip sustains a slim and stylish profile, offering both convenience and comfort in any daily shooting situations.
