How do you make camera sensor technology cool, interesting, and exciting? Football of course! OK, don't let that put you off; Sony is arguably the leading supplier and developer of CMOS sensor technology for both its own Cyber-shot and Alpha digital still cameras, and Handycam video cameras, as well as some other camera brands. Sony has worked hard to make its sensor technology work well in low light conditions - like twilight, that photographically challenging time as the sun goes down.To promote its Exmor CMOS sensor technology, all summer Sony has been leading up to a big world event to celebrate Sony Exmor technology.
Twilight photography winners
Earlier this year Sony launched a photography competition open to photographers all around the world, with the challenge to produce great action photography in low light conditions. You can see the winners' shots for yourself. Each of the winners, who come from the UK, Turkey, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Finland, will be present in South Africa next Tuesday evening to photograph one of seven special football matches that will be played around the world at twilight, local time.
