World Wide Licenses Ltd and Sangers Ltd announce the Worlds first digital compact camera to use the Foveon X3 direct image sensor – the Polaroid X530.
Only the Polaroid X530 with Foveon X3 Direct Image Sensor Technology will give you optimal output in prints from 3”x 4” up to 8” x 10”.
The camera uses as its image capture new technology that has been developed by Foveon, which unlike the indirect light capture technique used in CMOS and CCD cameras, uses a “Direct Image Sensor” technique which results in:
1. The best performance in removing color artifacts from images
2. The highest color fidelity of any consumer digital camera on the market
3. The sharpest images captured by any consumer digital camera on the market
The full featured Polaroid X530 comes equipped with a 4.5 mega-pixel high resolution Foveon X3 direct image sensor, 3x Ricoh optical zoom lens and a large 2” colour TFT LCD display.
The camera is also the first digital camera to feature true 30 frames per second video.
The X530 allows images to be converted to standard JPEG files or maintained and edited in the proprietary X3F RAW format.
The camera ships with the highly acclaimed ‘Fill Light’ X3 Imaging software application that enables users to fine tune the light balance in images after they have been captured.
About Foveon and Foveon X3 Technology:
Foveon is a technology company focused on imaging acquisition technology. The company introduced a higher end acquisition sensor in a camera (Sigma) that cost several thousand pounds and was targeted at professionals. The new X3 technology is a derivative of the Sigma technology designed specifically for the consumer market.
Foveon X3 image sensors are the world’s only direct image sensors, which capture red, green and blue light at every pixel location, and are the first image sensor that make use of silicon’s inherent colour separation properties. When silicon is exposed to light, blue light is absorbed near the surface, green light is absorbed in the middle, and red light is absorbed deep within the silicon. Pixel sensors are stacked at the corresponding depths within the silicon so that red, green, and blue light is captured for each pixel location.
