Canon, leader in photographic and imaging technology, is pleased to announce the launch of the tiny Card Photo Printer CP-200 and Card Photo Printer CP-300. The two new models are the latest compact additions to Canon's 'Direct Print' range, which enables production of photo-lab quality colour prints without the need to connect to a PC. With the Card Photo Printer CP-300 consumers can print their photos, even if they don't have access to a mains power supply, using the battery pack included.
"These mobile mini-labs are part of an exciting new area of digital photography", explains Malcolm Hills, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging in the UK. "Our direct printer market has grown by over 200% in the last 12 months and we expect that to continue as more and more digital camera users look for a simple means of printing their favourite shots."
Full mobility
40% smaller lighter than previous Canon models, Canon's smallest ever direct printers offer ultimate portability. The new models are compact enough to be kept in a drawer, yet stylish enough to look right at home in the living room. Both Card Photo Printers have an optional car battery adapter (CBA-CP100), which powers the printer whilst on the move. The Card Photo Printer CP-300 comes with the added benefit of a battery pack, for printing without access to a mains power supply.
Connect, Select, Print
Printing a photo on the Card Photo Printer CP-200 and Card Photo Printer CP-300 is simply a matter of connecting direct to a Canon digital camera via the camera's standard USB cable. A simple menu on the camera allows print size, type and quantity to be selected, and within approximately 85 seconds of selecting 'print', the process for a superb postcard size print is complete.
Traditional photo feel
Canon uses dye-sublimation technology to reproduce photo-grade tones. The Card Photo Printers build up full colour images by merging three separate colour layers; yellow, magenta and cyan. A durable, high-gloss finish is added with a final protective layer, resulting in prints that have the same look-and-feel and fade-resistant durability as traditional silver-halide photographs.
Print choices
Both new models offer a choice of bordered or borderless print sizes - the popular 6 x 4", credit card size, or mini-stickers.
Personalised postcards are now possible within two minutes of taking a photo, with a postcard ruling pre-printed on the reverse of standard 6x4" media.
Compatibility
The Card Photo Printer CP-200 and Card Photo Printer CP-300 work with all of Canon's direct-print compatible range of digital cameras. For those wishing to print from their computer, Windows and Macintosh drivers come as standard. For future compatibility, both models are designed to be ready for PictBridge.*
