Photokina 2008: Adobe Delivers Creative Suite 4 Design Premium
Release Issued by Adobe:

New Creative Tools and Simplified Workflows Increase Efficiency in CrossMedia Design

London, UK — 23rd September, 2008 — Adobe Systems Incorporated today announced Adobe® Creative Suite® 4 Design Premium, the latest evolution of the premier toolkit for creating and producing engaging design for print, Web, interactive and mobile media. Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium software combines powerful new versions of Adobe InDesign® CS4, Adobe Photoshop® CS4 Extended (see separate releases), Adobe Illustrator® CS4, Adobe Flash® CS4 Professional, Adobe Dreamweaver® CS4, Adobe Acrobat® 9 Pro and the newly integrated Adobe Fireworks® CS4 for quickly prototyping Web sites and applications. A new version of Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard will also be available.

“With the Creative Suite 4 product line we’re enabling designers to embrace the power and potential of interactive design, moving their businesses forward through radical workflow enhancements and innovations that can save time and deliver better results,” said John Loiacono, senior vice president of Creative Solutions at Adobe. “With audiences being bombarded with disparate communications in print, on the Web and via mobile devices, creative professionals now have the power to deliver consistent, stand‐out work across media — ensuring that it is the idea, not the medium, that is the message.”

CrossMedia
Workflow Encourages Experimentation
Taking cross‐media to a whole new level, this major release of CS4 Design Premium has been updated with powerful new features that allow experienced users of Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign to quickly transfer projects to Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, or Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro for refinement, production, and high‐quality output in print, Web or mobile. Compelling dynamic documents can be created by exporting an InDesign layout as a XFL file, opening it in Flash, editing text and graphics, and adding interactive elements. Designers can build a prototype for a Web site or Web application in Fireworks with Photoshop or Illustrator layered artwork. New object based animation makes designing in Flash more straightforward and similar to working with other Adobe creative applications, reducing the learning curve for print designers accustomed to working with static design elements.

New Tools Simplify Animation and 3D Creation
For designers who are interested in moving from 2D to 3D, new tools are available to convert their projects to animation while reducing the learning curve. Object‐based animation makes designing in Flash more straightforward and similar to working with other Adobe creative applications. Entire animations can be moved to new locations in a single step, and adjusting object location, rotation, and scale is as simple as grab‐move‐release. In addition, powerful new 3D painting and compositing features in Photoshop CS4 Extended make editing, enhancing and manipulating 3D images exciting and easy. Users can now convert 2D images to common 3D shapes such as cubes, cylinders, or spheres and can paint directly on 3D models with the powerful image‐editing tools in Photoshop.

“We often start with an initial design concept in Adobe Illustrator CS4 and Photoshop CS4, but then move that concept on to multiple media,” said Bruno Selles, co‐founder and creative director of Vasava, a crossmedia design firm based in Spain serving clients such as Budweiser, Diesel, MTV and BMW. “Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium gives our team a streamlined workflow that lets us re‐use and repurpose assets for print, motion graphics, interactive projects, or video. We work with complex ideas and different outputs, and Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium enables everyone on the team to do their part and then integrate everything together within the context of an efficient, deadline‐driven workflow.”
