SANYO expands eneloop re-chargeable battery range

Watford August 19th 2008….SANYO, the world’s largest manufacturer of rechargeable batteries has expanded it’s highly successful eneloop ready to use re-chargeable battery range with a number of key product enhancements.

A new power pack containing a bundle of eneloop products has been launched which offers users a complete re-chargeable battery solution within an easy to store pack.  The power pack contains 4 x AA cells, 2 x AAA cells , 2 x D-size adapters, 2 x C-size adapters and 1 x quick charger.

As well as the new power pack, SANYO has also launched a USB charger which comes as standard with 2 x AA or 2 x AAA batteries.  The USB charger means that batteries can be recharged directly from the USB port on a PC or other device making it ideal for recharging on the move without the need to carry additional plugs or when plug sockets are limited. The USB charger is especially useful for travellers as it eliminates the need to worry about different plug sizes and shapes.

Unlike conventional rechargeable batteries, which discharge themselves over time, eneloop offers optimum energy storage with 85 per cent capacity still available after 12 months. Not only does this mean that eneloop lasts longer than its conventional rechargeable and disposable counterparts, but it can be used when first purchased, charged and ready to use straight from the packaging, without the need for pre-charging. Eneloop batteries can be charged up to 1000 times meaning if they are discharged and charged once a week they will last for 19 years!

Eneloop offers an environmentally friendly battery solution because it can be charged up to 1,000 times and then recycled, meaning less battery product will end up on landfill sites.

Eneloop is designed to operate in all household devices including MP3 players, radios and remote controls. In high drain devices such as digital cameras eneloop offers a massive performance improvement when compared to standard alkaline batteries. In testing carried out by SANYO eneloop batteries took 4 times as many photographs as standard disposable alkaline batteries.

Using SANYO’s super-lattice-alloy technology, eneloop combines the superior technology of modern Nickel Metal Hydride (NI-MH) rechargeable batteries with the advantages of conventional alkaline batteries, As such, eneloop can be used in most environments, particularly in cold temperatures where it offers superior performance over alkaline batteries.

Paul Joyner National Sales Manager at SANYO comments, “These new products offer consumers the opportunity to save money, help the environment and also to benefit from the improved performance that eneloop provides.  The power pack product can offer the complete solution to a family’s battery requirements.”

The eneloop range is now available at branches of Argos and at www.argos.co.uk
