The Royal Photographic Society announces the 2008 International Projected Image Exhibition
Release Issued by The Royal Photographic Society:

The Royal Photographic Society announces the 2008 International Projected Image Exhibition

Deadline: 2nd September 2008

DPNow says: As with all photo competitions, DPNow urges all potential competitors to read the terms and conditions before entering their work in case a claim is made on the use or copyright of your pictures. Also, beware of any subsequent offers that ask you to pay for items that result from competitions before parting with any cash.

The Royal Photographic Society invites amateurs, students and professional photographers worldwide to submit digital files and slides for consideration for the 2008 International Projected Image Exhibition. The deadline for entries is 2nd September 2008.

The competition has four categories:

  • Open Slide
  • Open Digital
  • Nature Slide
  • Nature Digital

Last year, the newly introduced Digital Section attracted many entries, while the Slide sections also received a high level of support. As a result, The Society is this year promoting Slide and Digital sections in both the Open and Nature categories.

The Exhibition continues to attract many outstanding photographers, with interest at many venues across the country. It has always been a great achievement to have an image accepted for the Exhibition, and by expanding the Digital sections alongside the Slide sections, the exhibition will be of interest to even more photographers.

For each category, there will be awards of one Society Gold medal, two Silver medals, and three Bronze medals plus ribbons. The Society continues to work with, and enjoy, the patronage of the Photographic Society of America (PSA); and a PSA medal will be awarded in both the Nature categories for the best overall exhibitor, in addition to the individual RPS medals.

This year’s selectors are as follows:
Open Slide and Digital

  • Sandy Cleland FRPS AFIAP
  • Ann Miles FRPS EFIAP MPAGB FBPE
  • Tom Dodd FRPS

Nature Slide & Digital

  • Sandy Cleland FRPS AFIAP
  • Ann Miles FRPS EFIAP MPAGB FBPE

Entry forms, with Guidelines for digital submission and details of dates and venues for the Exhibition, have been posted on the RPS website www.rps.org, on the appropriate page under Exhibitions, and are available from The Society by calling +44 (0)1225 325733 or emailing [email protected].

There are three levels of entry fees for RPS Members, Non-members & Under 25s. As part of the newly introduced Jeff Vickers Genix Imaging Youth Initiative, 10 x Under 25s will receive free membership to The Society for a year with free entry to a Licentiateship or Associateship Distinction. These 10 x Under 25s will be selected by the judges, based on merit.

All entrants will receive a presentation CD-Rom of the accepted images, together with a copy of the exhibition catalogue. The exhibition will be shown at venues in the UK and the Republic of Ireland from November 2008 to March 2009.
