Incredible Trips and Prizes At Stake For Amateur Shutterbugs

Amateur shutterbugs and photography enthusiasts rejoice as Small Luxury Hotels of the World launches its Inaugural Worldwide Photography Competition in order to have travellers share their most inspired moments and experiences “caught on film” during the course of their travels.  Whether they are images of a bike ride through the Tuscan hills, a glowing pink sunset over a private beach in the Maldives or simply a historic monument in Europe, the possibilities are limitless and welcome.

“There is incredible synergy between photography and travel which we want to celebrate. We have been providing unique experiences to our guests for nearly two decades and now we want them to share those special moments with us, at least in the form of memorable images,” commented Paul Kerr, Chief Executive Officer of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

The contest, which will take place completely online via a dedicated competition website www.slhphotocontest.com, will run until 31st July 2008.  Entrants will register with the site and have the opportunity to upload 10 of their favourite, most awe-inspiring photographs that capture a sense of place and experience. All submitted photos will be viewable in an online gallery where visitors can admire others’ work and vast travel adventures.

Four overall winning photographs will be chosen by a panel of judges including celebrity photographer Andy Earl. Mr. Earl has photographed the likes of Madonna, Prince and Pink Floyd for their album covers and it was his imaginative eye that led Small Luxury Hotels of the World to ask him to adopt a fresh, creative look at hotel marketing through photography.  In addition to the four top prize winners, anybody who registers and submits at least one photo will be automatically entered into a prize draw for a five-night stay at any of the more than 440 Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties in over 70 countries.

The four top prize winners will all receive a brand new Nikon D80 SLR 10.2 Camera with an 18-135mm zoom lens, plus, choose in ranking order from 1st to 4th place, one of four incredible prize getaways including two round-trip tickets on American Airlines. The available prize packages are:

• A six-night Costa Rican Adventure spent at both Hotel Punta Islita and Gaia Hotel & Reserve
• A five-night English Town & Country Experience spent at both The Capital Hotel in London and Luton Hoo Country Estate
• A four-night Mexican Escape at Esencia on the Riviera Maya
• A three night Big Apple Experience in New York City at The Iroquois New York
