The search is on to find the UK's 'Most Typical Family'

Released by Epson:

The search is on to find the UK's 'Most Typical Family'

In a move to highlight how interesting and diverse British family life is, Epson, the world's leading digital imaging company, is launching a nationwide search to find the UK's most typical family to star as the The Epson Family. This will see an otherwise unknown British family propelled to superstardom. This unique social experiment will see them go from being anonymous to being one of the most recognised families on the web. In the space of just 100 days they will become the stars of their very own global show. Families that are interested in staring in their very own show can enter for a chance to win at, www.the-epson-family.com.

Epson will also be scouring the length and breadth of Britain looking for the UK's most typical family who will be thrust into the public eye, reminiscent of the massive hit movie The Truman Show. Once selected, the winners will go on to be the stars of The Epson Family, an online channel following the family's every move from the time they wake up until the time they go to bed. It will cover every moment in their family life from Sunday lunch through to even a potential wedding. Their lives will be publicly documented via a continuous stream of photographs and images that will constantly be uploaded and updated throughout the 100 days, starting in March 2004.

The chance of instant fame and recognition doesn't stop there. The winning family will go on to appear in a national advertising campaign for Epson and be the subjects of a high profile photographic exhibition at one of London's leading galleries; documenting 100 days in the life of the UK's most famous family. The exhibition will mark the end of the show and will be launched at a VIP celebrity party with the Epson Family taking centre stage.

In addition to receiving £11,250 (the UK's typical wage for a 100 day period*) and a contribution from Epson to the charity of their choice, the winning family will be kitted out with the latest state of the art digital cameras, printers, scanners and projectors, courtesy of Epson, that will enable them to capture key moments of their lives and relay them instantly to their adoring fan base via their Epson family online channel. A host of professional photographers and journalists will be visiting the Epson Family house during the 100 days to help them capture key moments in their 'typical life'.

Jane F.A. Barnard, Marketing Communications Manager for Epson said: "We anticipate that the Epson family could become an international phenomenon. We want to prove once and for all that when it comes to UK family life, there is actually no such thing as a typical family, as all families experience unique and exciting moments throughout their lives".

The search for families to take part in the show begins today. Families who think they are 'typical' and would like to take part, are invited to visit a dedicated website: www.the-epson-family.com and send in a family snapshot together with a few details of why they believe their family to be the most typical family in the UK.

Additionally, a team of specially appointed Epson scouts will be conducting a nationwide search which will tour the length and breadth of the country from January 2004 to find the UK's most typical family. The search will take in over ten regions stopping at the following locations:
