Canon sponsors VII photo agency’s first European Seminar

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, 28 March, 2007: Canon Europe announces its sponsorship of the inaugural European VII Seminar, a prestigious forum for contemporary photography and photographers. Due to be held at the Royal Geographic Society, London, on April 13-14, this event is the first time that the top-level photo agency VII has taken its successful lecture series outside the United States.

The Seminar plays host to some of the most respected names in the world of photography for two days of presentations and discussions on the issues most important to today’s working photographer. Each of the 10 photographers on VII’s roster – some of the most famous names in the business – will also present their most recent work.1

“We are delighted to support the very first European VII Seminar and, in doing so, we underline our commitment to the photographic industry,” said Barry van Vuuren, Team Leader, Professional Imaging Department, Canon Europa N.V. “The opinions of professional photographers have always played a big part in the evolution of EOS, the world’s leading SLR system – the European VII Seminar now gives photographers new opportunities to talk about their craft.”

The European VII Seminar builds on the success of similar events held in major American cities, such as New York and Los Angeles. Running over two days and designed to appeal primarily to professional photographers and students, the London Seminar’s sessions will cover a range of topics, including: ‘The Role of Photography in Effecting Change’ and ‘Photography and Commerce’. The Seminar concludes with a book signing by all 10 of the VII photographers. In addition, on Saturday 14 April, Canon will demonstrate the EOS-1D Mark III, the latest addition to the EOS system. Throughout the two days, a Canon demonstration stand and a ‘Check and Clean’ service will also be available.
