Hamrick Software, the developer of VueScan, the most widely used scanning software, has released its latest version which allows users to use over 500 scanners with Windows Vista.

Phoenix, AZ, February 15, 2007 -- Hamrick Software, the developer of VueScan, the most widely used scanning software, has announced full support for Windows Vista.

"When people upgrade to Windows Vista, they're surprised to find that their existing scanner doesn't work" says Ed Hamrick, President of Hamrick Software. "Most scanner drivers don't work on Windows Vista, but these scanners will usually work quite well with VueScan on Windows Vista. In fact, VueScan provides higher quality scans and many more features than the software that comes with most scanners."

Graham Barlow, Editor of MacFormat Magazine comments, "For the Mac community, it's a fact that OS X contains far more backward compatible rivers for printers and scanners than Windows Vista does. What this means is that when people upgrade to Windows Vista they'll discover that their 5-year-old scanner or printer won't ever work for them again, and they'll have to ditch it and buy a new one. Not only does this cause them a headache, it is also out of line with the latest policy on being environmentally friendly."

To use scanners with Windows Vista, install VueScan from www.hamrick.com and then plug in the scanner. When Windows Vista asks for a driver, tell it to look in c:vuescan.

VueScan is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. VueScan offers a full range of advanced features; including options for scanning faded slides and prints and automatically adjusting images to optimum color balance that reduces the need to manually do it in Photoshop. It includes built-in IT8 color calibration of scanners, producing colors that look true to life, batch scanning and other advanced and powerful scanning and productivity features, including PDF output.

For a detailed listing of VueScan features, see: www.hamrick.com/abo.html.

VueScan is available in two editions, Standard Edition ($49.95 USD) and Professional Edition ($89.95). The Professional Edition adds unlimited free upgrades, advanced IT8 color calibration and support for raw scan files. Multi-user licenses are available. A fully functional, trial copy of VueScan can be downloaded from www.hamrick.com.

Based in Phoenix, AZ, Hamrick Software was founded in 1991. Its first product was VuePrint, an easy to use JPEG viewer for Windows that for many years was the recommended image viewer for AOL, with more than 100,000 users. In 1998, the company first released VueScan, a program for scanning with flatbed and film scanners, there are now more than 140,000 users all over the world.
