BARCELONA, Spain--Lexar, a world leader in advanced digital media technologies, will introduce two new ultra-compact mobile memory storage products at the 3GSM World Congress, expanding its range to include a 4GB miniSDHC™ card and a 2GB microSD™ card. The increased capacities of the new Lexar memory cards will enable the end user to take maximum advantage of a broader range of advanced features and capabilities offered by today’s new mobile phones, including applications ranging from games to music, video, image, and file storage. Lexar’s new miniSDHC and microSD cards will begin shipping worldwide in April 2007. The new cards, as well as Lexar’s full range of storage solutions for mobile phones and other portable devices, will be showcased at 3GSM in the Micron booth (Hall 1, booth 1H21).

Lexar’s new 4GB miniSDHC card will allow users to store more than 100 hours of video in MPEG4 (3GP2) format, over 1,000 songs (4-minute song in MP3 format), or over 4,000 photos (using a 3 megapixel cameraphone)*. The new 2GB microSD card can hold up to 50 hours of video in MPEG4 (3GP2) format, over 500 songs in MP3 format, or over 2,000 photos using a 3 megapixel cameraphone.

“Many industry projections indicate that 2007 will be the year when sales of compact memory cards for mobile phones will overtake sales of cards for digital cameras, with an estimated worldwide market exceeding 300 million phones with removable memory capabilities,” said Michael Yang, Director of Product Marketing of Flash Memory Cards at Lexar. “With the additional content features and services provided by the latest generation of phones, cameras, and portable music devices, there will also be increasing demand for memory cards with expanded capacities. The introduction of our new miniSDHC and microSD cards reflects Lexar’s ongoing commitment to providing our customers with all the memory they need to take full advantage of all the latest advancements.”

*Actual number of photos, minutes, and songs will vary depending on device model, format resolution and compression, usable capacity, and bundled software. Actual usable memory may vary. 1GB equals 1 billion bytes.
