Cardmedia announces the SmartMedia Adapter for xD

Date: 15th September 2003 Cardmedia (Europe) Ltd has announced the release and commercialization in Europe of the Smartmedia adapter for xD, which provides xD picture card support for all devices equipped with a Smartmedia slot.

xD picture cards are becoming more and more popular as they are supported by the recent digital cameras from Olympus and Fujifilm, which needs to be interfaced with current Digital Camera accessories such as :

 USB memory card readers to access photos/videos on the xD cards
(most of the Combo do not support xD but have a SmartMedia slot)

 Portable storage device to benefit from high capacity storage
(i.e. the Vosonic X’S-Drive II VP2060)

 TV MultiMedia player to share photos and videos on a TV
(i.e. Vosonic DiGi Viewer, Sandisk TV player…)

The xD picture card simply needs to be inserted in the adapter, and the adapter inserted in a Smartmedia slot.

The SmartMedia adapter will retail in the UK for £10 incl. VAT.
