Kodak introduce Kodak Professional Inkjet Paper

Release Issued by Kodak:

Proven to provide exceptional colour, detail and quality for more than 100 years

London, 03 January 2007 – Photographers can now produce high quality inkjet prints that deliver exceptional image stability and last more than 100 years* in typical home display conditions, even when displayed without glass, according to Kodak’s Image Stability Behaviour report.

Offering durability that rivals traditional silver halide printing, Kodak Professional Inkjet Photo Paper, when used with quality state-of-the-art pigmented inks, provides an extended life for inkjet prints due to its exceptional resistance to major environmental factors such as ozone, high humidity, light intensity and excessive heat.

By devising test methods based on current ANSI/ISO standards, Kodak illustrates that even with thermal fade and light fade Kodak Professional Inkjet Photo Paper print, when used with quality pigmented inks, will have a lifespan in excess of 100 years. Kodak’s accelerated Ozone fade test, similar to ANSI/ISO standards also shows that the Professional Inkjet Photo Paper is capable of withstanding over 100 years of Ozone exposure, even when displayed in unprotected conditions. Humidity testing, carried out at Kodak’s Image Stability Technical Centre was found to have even less of a significant affect on the paper.

As well as offering long-lasting photo print properties, Kodak Professional Inkjet Photo Paper is universally compatible with dye and pigment based inkjet printers.

Photographers using Kodak Professional Inkjet Paper will benefit from a high quality product that boasts fantastic colour saturation and accuracy. Available in glossy or lustre finish, the product looks and feels like true photo paper thanks to the high-quality pulp and state-of-the-art paper chemistry.

The papers’ bright white base results in clean highlights and delicate flesh tones, improves the overall print quality, while its excellent gloss uniformity prevents undesirable surface artifacts for a natural photo look.

Kodak Professional Inkjet Paper benefits from microporous coating technology that allows the ink to dry instantly so that prints can be touched immediately after printing. The quick drying time also reduces the risk of smudging and prevents the prints from sticking together in the printer’s output tray.

Photographers can also download Kodak custom colour ICC profiles, which have been developed to work with popular inkjet printers to achieve optimal results every time. The ICC profiles enable colour management and can be used as the starting point to adjust the colour on a printer to achieve a unique output preference. By using ICC profiles, photographers can ensure that each print delivers optimal colour and flesh tone reproduction. The overall result is outstanding image quality.

In addition to the wide range of cut-sheet sizes, from A4, A3 to A3+, Kodak Professional Inkjet Paper is also available in roll sizes including 10-, 16- and 24-inch-wide by 100-foot rolls (25.4-, 40.6- and 61cm-wide by 30m rolls) for increased productivity and efficiency in printing workflows. Long rolls facilitate rapid delivery of enlargements, quick reprints and proofs. The addition of the Kodak Professional backprint ensures a complete, high-quality end result.
