Olympus Digital Sleaze Photography Competition
“Can you see sound”
Olympus Digital Cameras and style bible Sleazenation announce the launch of Olympus Digital Sleaze, a dedicated student digital photography competition aimed at championing and supporting emerging young British talent.
The competition, now in its second year, runs until October 17th 2003 and invites all students to submit a digital image that captures the question, “Can You See Sound?”. The winner will win a fully comprehensive prize that includes a commission to shoot a music feature for Sleazenation, potential representation from PYMCA and be fully equipped with the Olympus Digital SLR, the pioneering new range set to enhance digital photography through an incredible advance in lens technology.
Entries can be uploaded to either www.olympusdigitalsleaze.com or www.sleazenation.com or sent to ODS, Studio 213, Westbourne Studios, London W10 5JJ.
Olympus will stage an exhibition in early 2004 to showcase all entries as well as promoting the talent through a series of slide shows on the acclaimed digital photographic website www.steal-life.com
A recognised mix of talent, from all sides of the camera, will judge all of the entries:

Moloko: Leftfield dance act
Steve Lazarides: Sleaze Creative Director and PYMCA Director
Neil Boorman: Sleaze Editor
Andrew Parker: Olympus UK Marketing and Communications Manager

The digital age has been quickly embraced and, most importantly, has allowed creative talent an immediate, and often previously unexplored, outlet. ODS aims to support talent, offer advice, confidence and direction. Like dance music in the 90’s digital photography is open to all and should be enjoyed."

Dennis Morris
A long time associate of Olympus, Morris came to fame through his documentation of Reggae, famously leaving home at 14 he became Bob Marley’s official photographer. The winner will receive advice through a one to one session from Bob, one of the most important British photographers.
Moloko
With a strong image and ground breaking songs Moloko has become one of the most influential UK dance acts. The band has documented their year through an Olympus association, see www.steal-life.com , and offer the artists valuable comment from their side of the camera
