Horseman announce three new products at Photokina

Release Issued by Horseman:

Horseman To Show SW-D2 Pro, A Super Wide Angle Camera, The LD Pro, A High-End Camera Back Accessory For Adding Bellows Functions, and the Horseman 3D Stereo Camera

Cologne, Germany, September 25, 2006 – The Horseman family concept announced earlier this year will be highlighted this week at Photokina with three new products on exhibit, including the SW-D2 Pro super wide angle camera, the LD Pro high-end camera back, and the Horseman 3D stereo camera.

The SW-D2 Pro is a higher-end version of the SWD large format digital camera announced earlier this year. The SW-D2 Pro will feature additional mount compatibility for the SWD interchangeable digital back system, plus some new design improvements that open new dimensions for large format digital photography.

In addition to the SW-D2 Pro, Horseman will also show the LD Pro, a high-end camera back accessory that is equipped with a slide-back mechanism to allow mounting of a high-end camera back to give full bellows functions, and allow you to convert the LD into a 4x5-inch film camera. The LD Pro takes high-end digital backs, such as Phase One, Leaf, Imacon and Sinar.

For professionals, the ability to manipulate camera movement can make all the difference in sharpness and photo quality. The Horseman LD Pro allows users to easily control depth of field, distortion, and lateral shift or being able to switch portrait/landscape with one-touch operation. The LD Pro has a four-way inset system for switching. It also has interchangeable camera mount system, which includes Hasselblad “V,” Hasselblad “H” and Mamiya 645 plates.

Among the design improvements for the SWD-2 Pro, is the moving of the tripod base from the center block of the body to the front body. This means lateral shift and rise/fall can be applied while keeping the camera on the tripod head because the front part (lens side) can be mounted on the tripod head and it gives the rear part (film side) freedom to move up/down and right/left for stitching without changing the image composition. The SW-D 2 Prois the only super wide angle camera that can do this.

With its unique interchangeable system, the SWD series is now compatible not
only with the Hasselblad "V" mount, but also Hasselblad "H" and Mamiya 645 mounts.

The Horseman 3D stereo camera, which began shipping late last month, will also be shown.

The Horseman 3D gives portrait studio photographers stereo photography for events like weddings, commemorative photos of kids, and pet photography. The Horseman 3D is also expected to find a wide field of applications in areas such as scientific criminal investigation by police and recording in academic research.

All three products will be distributed in the U.S. by Direct Source Marketing, which was created as a result of the joint venture between Komamura Corporation, a long time distributor of Rollei and Horseman products in Japan, and Franke & Heidecke, the Germany-based manufacturer of Rollei products, became the distributor for Horseman in Germany this month. DSM is the U.S. distributor of the partnership’s medium and large format Horseman and Rollei professional cameras.
