General improvements to Epson's P-4000 photo storage viewer result in the announcement of the P-4500
18 months ago at Photokina 2004 Epson made waves with the launch of its P-2000 hard-drive based portable storage unit and viewer, especially as the original P-1000 was not an unqualified success. Everyone who saw it fell in love with its 3.8 inch Photo Fine VGA resolution display.
When I reviewed it later that year I said it was: "almost like looking at a glossy photo print from a reasonable viewing distance."
Just six months ago Epson announced an
update in the form of the P-4000. This introduced a larger 80GB hard disk storage capacity and improvements to the range of image and movie formats it could display. The new P-4500 just announced sees a re-styled design, although it looks about the same size.
RAW formats supported by the P-4500 are:

Epson UK and USA reported that they had no information or plans concerning the introduction of the P-4500 in the West, though we heard much the same response when the P-4000 was originally announced in Japan, so the wait shouldn't be too long.
