Kodak outlines some bold predictions for the future of imaging

Release Issued by Kodak:

The Future is not just digital, it's connected says Kodak

NICE, FRANCE, September 16 – “Kodak is not just at the forefront of digital imaging any more” said Pierre Schaeffer, Director of WW Business Strategy and Marketing Services, Eastman Kodak, “we are now leading the way in the new world of connected digital imaging.”

At its presentation in France, Kodak was outlining some bold predictions for the future of imaging as we know it, as well as granting a first opportunity to experiment with its unique EASYSHARE-ONE, the first WiFi worldwide connected camera.

Kodak today
“Kodak has 30 years of heritage in digital imaging” said Philippe Kalmbach, Director of Marketing Services, DFIS EAMER. “We led the way with the creation of the first digital camera back in 1976 and we now continue to innovate as we bring EASYSHARE-ONE to market – the first of its kind digital camera, designed as much for sharing pictures as taking them, transitioning consumer photography from point-and-shoot to point-and-share.”

EASYSHARE-ONE incorporates multiple benefits that avid picture sharers could only dream of until now, including:
· E-mail and online picture sharing without a computer, using a direct, wireless connection to the KODAK EASYSHARE Gallery service
· On-the-spot sharing of up to 1,500 favourite pictures, synchronised with a person’s PC-based picture collection
· Significantly enhanced ease of use for picture sharing and taking, including the ability to create on-camera albums in which to store pictures, intuitive menu options with touch screen selection, automatic organisation of pictures by date taken and even richer graphical scene modes to help get the best possible picture in a variety of environments
· Wireless picture printing with KODAK PERFECT TOUCH Technology
· Perfect resolution pictures with professional quality colour and sharpness
· Smooth, vibrant video taking and sharing, plus the ability to share those videos via the KODAK EASYSHARE Gallery
· Premium customer service from Kodak, providing EASYSHARE-ONE model owners with priority enquiry handling and assistance

Kodak’s vision
Picking up the theme of Kodak’s leadership in digital imaging, Pierre Schaeffer went on to outline the company’s vision for the future. “The transition from film to digital is now a given” he said, “the future is about moving from digital imaging to connected imaging. Cameras will still be around and will continue to evolve and develop but we already see that they will become one of a spectrum of connected devices, some of which will have imaging as their core function and some of which – like phonecams, for example – will have something else.”

Schaeffer continued, “the challenge which Kodak is addressing today is what consumers will want tomorrow. For us, the consumer trend we perceive to be particularly significant is the shift towards sharing. It’s not just about capturing memories any more, it’s about capturing moments and the continuous capability the evolving technology gives us to tell the ‘story’ of our lives through our constant picture taking. This is the future and what the KODAK EASYSHARE System and services like KODAK EASYSHARE Gallery are evolving to facilitate and enable.”
