Enabling you to archive your precious memories straight from your 35mm film or slides

Perfection 3490

The Epson Perfection 3490 Photo and Perfection 3590 Photo (Top Right) allow you to scan documents, photos and even 35mm film to ensure that those irreplaceable memories are preserved safely.

August 2005: Whilst many people have converted to digital cameras, there are still those who prefer traditional cameras. In addition, many people have 35mm film stored away from before the ‘Digital Age’. To cater for these people Epson has launched the Perfection 3490 Photo and the Perfection 3590 Photo.

The Epson Perfection 3490 Photo retails at just £79 and is the most economical scanner in the Epson range. Despite this low price, it is packed with features to make it an essential addition to any home.

The Epson Perfection 3490 Photo comes with the ability to scan either 35mm film or three mounted slides at a time, using the film holders provided. Once the film or slides have been placed on the scanner the Perfection 3490 Photo will automatically detect whether the film is positive or negative, colour or black and white. The preview mode even allows you to see the image exactly as it would appear in a photograph.

And for those who want the whole process automated, the Epson Perfection 3590 Photo features an Automatic Film Loader for £99; just place your 35mm film in the feeder, press one button and leave the scanner to do the rest. The Epson Perfection 3590 Photo can scan a whole strip of six 35mm frames at one time.

Both the Perfection 3490 Photo and the Perfection 3590 Photo offer 3200 x 6400dpi, which means you can scan images with superior sharpness. The scanners also include four user-friendly feature buttons on the front of the scanner which enable you to scan your image as a PDF, attach it in an email or copy it simply by pressing one button. This makes the scanner ideal for those who like their technology to be as simple and intuitive as possible.

For enhancement of images before and after scanning, Epson offers a feature packed software bundle that includes Epson Creativity Suite, ArcSoft® PhotoImpression™ 5 and ABBYY® FineReader® Sprint 6* that allows you to enhance and manage your images and documents to suit your needs.

Both scanners are compatible with the optional Multi-Photo Feeder, which fits on top of the scanner and allows you to simply load a number of photographs, and leave it to scan and save.

Richard Baylis, Consumer Sales and Marketing Manager, said: “We have released two cost efficient new scanners which make it even easier and faster to archive film.”
