First Wacom Bluetooth wireless pen tablet for Mac and PC
Wacom, the leading manufacturer of pen tablets, today announces its new Graphire Bluetooth for Mac and PC its first Bluetooth wireless pen tablet.
Graphire Bluetooth is targeted at digital imaging enthusiasts, for wirelessly editing digital photos and images, videos or DVDs using a pen and tablet. The A5 format tablet works up to 10 metres away from the computer; its wireless concept provides a relaxing and comfortable way to work either on the desktop or in the lap.
Stylish high-tech pen tablet with ExpressKeys
Stylishly designed in metallic silver, the Graphire Bluetooth high-tech pen tablet has an active working area of area of 8² x 6². A transparent photo frame functions as a frame for personal photographs or for tracing images and drawings. Two freely programmable buttons (ExpressKeys) are located at the top of the tablet, which can be customised in digital imaging software to swap between tools or change tool properties. For example, together with the pen they can be used for quick navigation while editing digital images.
By default, the two ExpressKeys are set to simulate the forward and back functions within Internet browsers, allowing quicker and easier browsing.
Long life battery with power save function
The Graphire Bluetooth pen tablet is powered using a high quality, lithium polymer battery that can be recharged at any time without a negative memory effect and provides up to 25 hours of continuous operation. The tablet features a power saving function if the tablet is not used within a 30 minute time frame it automatically switches itself off, prolonging the battery life. A LED power indicator light gives a continuous overview of the operational status of the tablet for example, the light colour indicates normal operation, no user input and changes when the pen tip, tool buttons or ExpressKeys are in use or if the battery is running low, the light flashes.
Wireless tablet with Bluetooth cableless pen with Penabled technology
Graphire Bluetooth pen tablet comes with a pen and mouse which both work on the tablet with Wacom's patented and proven penabled technology. The pen and mouse are cordless and battery-free and are therefore maintenance free.
Both input devices receive the power from the tablet and are located by a signal on the tablet's surface. Pressure sensitivity, positioning and other information is transferred from the tablet to the computer via Bluetooth wireless technology.
The pen is designed with a DuoSwitch, which has two freely programmable functions. By default they are configured with the double click and right mouse click. The pen offers 512 pressure levels for drawing natural strokes, retouching digital images with pinpoint accuracy or applying filters with greater control. At the top of the pen there is a pressure sensitive eraser.
A pen compartment provides safe pen storage, which is ideal for travelling or when the pen is not in use. The Graphire Bluetooth mouse works without a ball and features two buttons and a scrolling wheel which functions as third mouse button.
Bundled Software
Graphire Bluetooth comes with Corel Painter Essentials2, a special edition Corel Painter, one of the leading graphics applications for natural media drawing and painting. It takes full advantage of Graphire Bluetoothıs functionality tip pressure and eraser and offers a wide range of pens and brushes for creating realistic and natural strokes.
System requirements
The tablet runs on Windows 2000 and XP, Mac OSX 10.2.8 or later. The computer needs to have a working Bluetooth connection that meets at least the Bluetooth specification 1.1 and is supported by HID protocol (either built-in Bluetooth support or an external Bluetooth dongle). A Bluetooth dongle is not provided in the package.

The new Graphire Bluetooth pen tablet is priced at £189.99 (including VAT).
It will be available from 15 April 2005 in the UK from Computers Unlimited.
The product carries a 2 years warranty.
