Release Issued by Tatung:
- 20Gb MP3 player and photo wallet/ slideshow in single unit
Swindon, England - 24 February 2005 - Tatung, the Taiwanese electronics giant, has released its elio 20Gb Photo Jukebox in the UK. The £230 (inc VAT) MP3 player has a 2.2" 65,000 colour LCD for displaying photographs and unlike the iPod photo can be used as portable storage for digital cameras whilst travelling.
Available immediately, the black and chrome elio's 1.8" 20 GB hard drive can store up to 5,000 songs or 7,000 photos, or a mixture of the two. It can play MP3, WMA, and WAV music files and display JPEG photos.
On The Go
Owners of the elio Photo Jukebox can leave their laptops at home when travelling, thanks to USB OTG (On The Go). OTG allows for direct transfer from a compatible camera via a USB cable (Cameras with PTP "Peer to Peer" option or MSC "Mass Storage Class" compatible). In addition, the elio has a built-in SD (Secure Digital) card reader, allowing users of any SD-card camera or other device to transfer data to the elio's hard disk.
The 178g elio's compact black chrome shell measures just 113 x 73 x 18.5 mm - about the size of a deck of cards, and has backlit function keys that can be illuminated any of 7 different colours. The SD card reader is built into the top of the unit, and a microphone is also integrated for voice recording. The unit comes aith a full return-to-manufacturer warranty.
Well Equipped
The elio comes well equipped, with a cradle to provide connectivity to a PC and output to a TV/HiFi, headphones with wired remote control, a leather case, USB cable for OTG connection and a USB cable for PC connection (supports USB1.1 and USB2.0).
The Elio is also supplied with its own software allowing owners to manage images and music, providing a simple interface for transferring favourite files to the elio. Owners can choose favourite images from anywhere on the PC to create slide shows with music and transitions (if required) or simply select and copy a set of images to the elio.
The elio boasts a long battery life - the built-in rechargeable lithium Ion (1300 mAh) battery provides up to 12 hours of the MP3 player with judicious use of the LCD screen, less when viewing photos or transferring files.
