Jessops Sponsorship Helps Scouts To Develop

Jessops, Europe’s leading photographic retailer, has announced its sponsorship of the Scout Associations’ Photographer badge.

The badge is open to approximately 120,000 girls and boys aged between 10 ½ and 14 years who are part of Scout Groups across the UK.

With the aim of encouraging young people to learn more about both traditional and digital photography, this activity badge covers areas such as composition, camera functions, processing and common faults.

To complete the badge, scouts are tested on a range of topics and must also produce a portfolio of 12 pictures. Scouts can also choose to focus on videography.

As part of the sponsorship, Jessops has produced a range of resource material for both Scouts and their Leaders. Scouts, on completion, will receive special Jessops certificates, along with a Scout Photographer badge.

Karen Lamerick, Head of Marketing at Jessops said, “Jessops is committed to promoting photography, especially amongst young people and those new to the field. We hope that our sponsorship of the Scout Photographer badge will help encourage a new general of passionate photographers”.

Natalie Spencer, Head of Fundraising and Sponsorship at The Scout Association said “The Photographer badge has always been one of the most popular of the 72 activity badges the Scouts can choose to participate in. We are sure that with Jessops support we can further increase interest in photography and help even more Scouts successfully complete the badge”.

Jessops is Europe’s leading retailer of photographic equipment and accessories, with a network of over 240 stores nationwide. It sells a comprehensive range of cameras, camcorders, digital cameras and accessories, as well as providing high quality developing and printing services.

The Scout Association is the UK’s largest co-educational youth organisation, providing fun, adventure and challenging activities for young people from 6-25. For more information, log onto www.scouts.org.uk
