Released by Olympus:
The Olympus Varimagni Angle Finder VA-1 flexible approach for the professional photographer
Cologne, 27 September 2004 While conventional photos are typically taken from a comfortable upright standing position, the art of professional photography demands imagery to be captured from a variety of unusual perspectives and angles. Enter the Olympus Varimagni Angle Finder VA-1, which comes with a twin solution suitable for capturing unique shots, from virtually any position with the assistance of supplementary magnification.
The Olympus Varimagni Angle Finder VA-1 means shooting very close to ground level for example at sporting events is simple. It can also be used when cameras are on a repro stand during copying work. Compatible with both the Olympus E-1 and Olympus E-300 cameras, the VA-1 is extremely useful when using telephoto, close-up and macro lenses.
The Olympus Varimagni Angle Finder VA-1 has a special adapter ring which fits over the cameras optical viewfinder and provides both comfortable focusing and easy photo composition for the professional photographer through the following features:
360° rotating viewing tube, with click-stop positions every 90° so that even difficult shooting angles can be taken advantage of
An integrated magnification selector, enabling images reflected on the focusing screen to be changed between 1.0x and 2.0x magnifications with a selector lever, which also rotates 90°. This shows either the entire screen at full size for easy image composition or 2.0x magnification of the central portion of the image for critical focusing
A built-in diopter correction ring, allowing individual eyesight adjustments between +3 to -5 diopters, so that every user can focus accurately
It will be available from November 2004, price to be confirmed.
