Minolta has released the DiMAGE Scan Elite II 35mm film scanner. It replaces the illustrious DiMAGE Scan Elite scanner that last year won the EISA title of European Digital Scanner of the Year.

This isn’t a simple development of its predecessor; it looks quite different and has a lower profile. Its maximum scanning resolution is 2,820 pixels per inch (ppi), giving it a 35mm full frame megapixel equivalence of about 10.5MP (3996 x 2664 pixels). An optional APS adapter is available.

16 bit A/D conversion is featured and Minolta provides a dynamic range value of 4.8. Both USB and Firewire (IEEE 1394) ports are suported. Digital ICE surface defect repair and correction technology is also included.

Both Mac OS 8.6 and later, plus Windows 98 or later operating systems are supported. The DiMAGE Scan Elite II is scheduled to ship from next month and has a guide price of £549.99.
