Kodak cuts EasyShare camera prices

Kodak has announced some price reductions to its EasyShare DX digital camera models launched in August (click here). Kodak is cutting the prices of two of what it says are its most popular EasyShare digital cameras, the DX3215 Zoom and the DX3900 Zoom.

The 1.3MP DX3215 is now priced at £229.99 inc. VAT, a reduction of £20. The 3.1MP range-topping DX3900 is now priced £399.99, a £50 reduction. As Christmas approaches, we’re going to see some vicious price battles in the digital camera market - especially at the entry-level end. HP threw down the gauntlet with the C715 (click here), a 3MP camera with a very good 3X zoom lens, for £349 inc.VAT. Kodak’s DX3900 remains £50 dearer with only a 2X optical zoom.

Meanwhile, 1.3MP cameras under £200 are now commonplace. Kodak does offer some nice features with the EasyDock facility to start with, but we note with interest that in order to keep the catalogue price down, Kodak offers EasyShare cameras without the docking station in the US - it’s compulsory over here.
