Kingston Technology, which is better known for solid state memory products like PC RAM and memory cards, has announced a 5GB PCMCIA hard disk drive for notebook PC users.
Naturally, the Type II (double thickness) device will be of interest to keen digital photographers who rely on a notebook PC for both storage and in-the-field image editing and management.
The Kingston 5GB DataPak, to give its proper name, uses a 1.8 inch hard drive unit which consumes between 15 and 350mA of current, depending on whether it is in standby or sleep mode or accessing data. The new 5GB DataPak replaces an existing 2GB product.
The price of the 5GB DataPak is £359 + VAT (€439).
