UMAX PowerLook 1000 high resolution scanner

UMAX announce a new high resolution PowerLook scanner. The PowerLook 1000, uses “Staggered-CCDTechnology” providing a high 2400 x 2400dpi optical resolution. The resolution is sufficient to produce photo quality A4 pictures from 35mm slides on a conventional inkjet printer.

The scanner has a fixed focus system using two lens positions switching to ensure focus either on the surface of frame mounted film and a reflective images. Amongst the other benefits are a full A4 bed transparency scanning area, offering advantages to those wishing to produce batch scans and scanning of non-standard transparency sizes such as Medical X-ray and Microscopy film.

Connectivity

Featuring both FireWire IEEE1394 and USB interfaces, this scanner will connect to all modern computers. Owners of older Macintosh computers and Windows PC-users can take advantage of the speed benefits from the Firewire connection using the bundled PCI Firewire card.

Included are a set of Auto detect film holders catering for common professional film formats.

Software Options

A selection of software based versions cater for a range of users.

The Graphic version offers simple scanning control with the bundled MagicScan software.

Print and design users who want higher quality results and the simplicity of automated processing, will opt for the ‘Pro’ version. This uses the printers favourite, Binuscan Photoperfect, offering high quality RGB and CMYK output.

Discerning users who wish to maximize the resulting scans will have complete control over the scanner with the ‘Photo’ version using the new Silverfast 5.5 plug-in with its inclusive IT8 calibration target. Photographers with be thrilled with the Negafix module which makes colour correction of Negative film types a truly rewarding experience.
