Jessops enhances online presence

The online presence of Jessops, the UK’s largest photographic retail specialist, has undergone some enhancements.

Perhaps of most interest is a new members area that provides access to online ordering history, saved product search results and even access to online experts who can answer questions. Buyers guides and articles on technique are also offered online.

The product comparison feature has been improved as well. It now enables side by side comparison of an unlimited number of items.

Iain Roberts, Jessops Web site manager, explains: “The Web site at jessops.com continues to prove hugely popular with photographers from the UK and all across the world. We’re always listening to what those visitors have to say and their feedback has brought about these latest enhancements to the site.”

Jessops reveals its site generates over 15 million ‘hits’ per month - though they don’t make it clear if that’s pages served or ‘object’ requests (several objects make up one page).

The press release also suggests the site is “widely regarded as the UK’s premier photographic site,” though some may be surprised to learn that another UK-operated photo Web site is substantially ‘bigger’ - no, not us (yet! -Ed), but Phil Askey’s Digital Photography Review (www.dpreview.com). This site, designed and updated almost single-handedly by Phil from his apartment in central London, generates just under 50 million page impressions a month...
