LaCie’s Blue Eye monitor calibrator goes cross platform and TFT LCD friendly

LaCie has announced the Blue Eye Vision, an improved colour monitor calibration device. Previous versions were designed with LaCie’s own monitor line in mind and were mainly supported for Mac users. It wasn’t suitable for TFT LCD screens either. The new version, priced £239, fixes all those issues.

LaCie, a leading producer of storage and display devices for the content development industry, announced the launch of its new calibrator, the LaCie blue eye vision. This cross-platform device performs hardware calibration on LaCie CRT displays, and is capable of performing software calibration on LaCie LCD displays and any other CRT monitor. Providing state-of-the-art color accuracy that is necessary for pre-press, Web design and digital content creation environments, the blue eye vision features a convenient USB connection, ColorSync™ compatibility for Macintosh applications, and comprehensive calibration software with an easy-to-use interface.

The compact blue eye vision features a sturdy docking base, which allows the user to swap two removable sensor attachments. One attachment features suction cups to securely adhere the sensor to the screen during calibration of CRT displays, and the other features a soft felt surface for calibrating LCD displays. Also included are cable hooks and a solid cable weight to hold the blue eye vision firmly in place when calibrating LCD displays. With cross-platform convenience, a single blue eye vision can be used to correct color on all monitors in a multi-workstation environment.

Availability and pricing

The LaCie blue eye vision will be available through LaCie resellers and mail order partners from January 2003 with a suggested price of £239.

The LaCie blue eye vision ships with a digital adapter, cable weight and hooks, plastic docking base, and calibration software for Macintosh and Windows operating systems, including Mac OS X and Windows XP.
