Key features

1. High optical quality meeting the most stringent needs of professional photographers
This lens incorporates three FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass elements and one SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element to provide excellent correction of magnification chromatic aberration encountered in hyper-telephoto shooting. This offers both high resolution and consistent edge to edge performance through the entire zoom range. In addition, when shooting at the focal length of 200mm, the SIGMA 60–600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports can also be used for telephoto macro photography, with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.3, thanks to its high rendering performance.

2. Incorporating multi-material to achieve both portability and durability
To achieve comfortable handling required for a 10x zoom lens while maintaining high optical quality, the SIGMA 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports incorporates multi-material, such as magnesium, CFRP*3, and TSC*4. The use of these superior materials in the right place reduces the weight of the overall lens to enhance portability and ensure durability.

*3 Carbon fiber reinforced plastic, a light but strong material used in the interior and exterior fittings of aircraft, among many other applications.
*4 Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) offers thermal expansion characteristics similar to those of aluminum. Since parts made with TSC expand and contract less due to changes in temperature, they tend to perform better under extreme conditions and help maintain the performance of the lens. TSC also offers outstanding elasticity. Compared to polycarbonate containing 20% glass, TSC offers approximately 70% higher elasticity. Compared to polycarbonate containing 30% glass, it offers 25% higher elasticity. (Comparison is between SIGMA-produced components.)

■ CFRP
■ TSC
■ Magnesium alloy

3. Design that ensures photographers capture every desired moment
The zooming mechanism has been engineered to make both smooth rotation and straight zoom possible. In addition, as a lens from the Sports line, the dust- and splash-proof structure ensures safe use even in the most challenging shooting conditions. Together with the water- and oil-repellent coating on the front lens, this lens surely meets the exact requirements of professional photographers.

4. SIGMA 600mm hyper-telephoto zoom lens lineup accommodates diverse shooting styles
The arrival of the 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports expands the lineup of SIGMA’s 600mm zooms to three lenses. The SIGMA 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports is “versatile”, focusing on high image quality and mobility, demonstrating superior coverage from a standard focal length to a hyper-telephoto range without switching to another lens. The 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports is composed of many metal parts aiming at a “robust” structure. The lineup of these two Sports line lenses that can meet the most stringent needs of professionals, together with the Contemporary line’s “lightweight” 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Contemporary, which reduces weight and makes the shooting experience even more comfortable and convenient, SIGMA undoubtedly satisfies the diverse shooting styles of photographers.

Sigma 40mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art

Press Release from Sigma:

SIGMA 40mm F1.4 DG HSM

Exceptional quality is the natural instinct of creators.
An evolution of the Art line is driven by this desire.

1. Optical performance that meets the requirements of high-end cine lenses
2. Designed to meet all shooting conditions
3. SIGMA CINE LENS – Inheriting the high standard and superior optical performance of SIGMA’s Art lenses

Inherits the development philosophy behind the SIGMA CINE LENS

High-end cine lenses used by professional filmmakers are required to have a consistent characteristic over the entire sensor at a high level, because these lenses are used to film a subject moving freely on the screen or while panning or tilting the camera. This represents exactly the concept of the Art line; “optical performance comes first”, and the high-end cine lenses need to be designed with this idea. The SIGMA 40mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art is SIGMA’s first lens developed originally to live up to the sought-after angle of view and performance standard for a cine lens. This new perspective to ensure the quality of professional equipment for visual production empowers it to breakthrough also as an interchangeable photographic lens.

Key Features

1. Optical performance that meets the requirement of high-end cine lenses
This lens effectively arranges three FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass elements and three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements to correct axial chromatic aberration and magnification chromatic aberration to the limit. A sharp image is formed on the focal plane with the maximum aperture and contrast with the soft bokeh in the out of focus area highlights the solidity of a subject. With a distortion of 1% or below and a sagittal coma flare corrected to the limit, it demonstrates a consistent optical characteristic over the entire sensor. This is the ultimate large-diameter standard lens that has both 8K-compatible resolution and beautiful bokeh.

World’s first mirrorless camera with 100MP+ image sensor GFX 100 Megapixels Concept

In-body image stabilization system allows for handheld capture of 100MP images

New Development Release

PHOTOKINA 2018, COLOGNE, GERMANY, September 25th, 2018 -FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) is developing a new flagship model equipped with 100MP+ image sensor to join the GFX system of mirrorless cameras. The new model will be the world’s first medium format mirrorless digital camera to feature an image sensor that has phase detection pixels across the entire sensor, outperforming contrast detection autofocus in tracking a moving subject and delivering greater accuracy in continuous autofocus. This model will also become the first medium format digital camera to feature in-body image stabilization mechanism, to significantly broaden the scope of achieving ultra-high resolution handheld images. The camera boasts substantially improved video recording capability compared to that of the GFX 50S and GFX 50R. It will be the first mirrorless digital camera equipped with an image sensor with the size of 43.8mmx32.9mm to support 4K video recording (4K/30P). This model will be Fujifilm’s highest performance camera that offers unrivaled innovation and versatility, as seen in the three “world’s first” features, satisfying all the needs of photographers at a higher level.

Main features

(1) FUJIFILM G Format image sensor with over 100MP resolution
The camera is equipped with a 102MP “FUJIFILM G Format (“G Format”) image sensor, specifically developed for this model. It delivers the highest image quality in the history of Fujifilm when combined with the fourth-generation “X-Processor 4” image processing engine that delivers superb color reproduction Fujifilm is famous for, and FUJINON GF lenses that offers ultra-high resolving power. Phase detection AF coverage on the entire sensor (approx. 100% coverage) enables fast and highly accurate autofocus regardless of your subject’s position within the frame, providing a level of performance that defies the current standards of medium format digital cameras.

(2) World’s first medium format digital camera to feature in-body image stabilization
In general, the higher the number of pixels that an image sensor has, the greater the likelihood of producing images out of focus from camera shakes. This is why Fujifilm has developed a new in-body image stabilization system for the G Format. This is also a world’s first for medium-format digital cameras. This has dramatically expanded the scope of achieving ultra-high resolution images (100MP+) hand-held, allowing users to explore new photographic opportunities.

(3) World’s first medium format mirrorless digital camera capable of recording 4K video
The combination of X-Processor 4’s advanced processing capability and the new image sensor with fast read speed has enabled 4K video recording (4K/30P, 10bit), the world’s first for a medium format mirrorless digital camera. The use of the larger image sensor facilitates a shallower depth of field, broader tone reproduction and advanced sensitivity characteristics. This, in turn, makes it possible to record a subject’s texture, three-dimensional feel and even the atmosphere of the scene with an unprecedented level of ease.

(4) Lightweight and robust magnesium alloy body with integrated vertical grip
The new camera has the size and weight equivalent to a high-end DSLR despite featuring an image sensor which is about 1.7 times the size of a 35mm sensor. This will be the first GFX camera to feature an integrated vertical grip, making it more robust and comfortable to hold, especially when large telephoto lenses are used.

The GH5, G9, and GH5S high-end Digital Single Lens Mirrorless cameras that Panasonic has steadily released since 2017 have already gained a solid reputation among professionals and high-level amateurs across the world for the quality of their pictures and ability to capture the vitality and beauty of life. This success is thanks to Panasonic’s world’s-first*6 support

for 4K 60p/50p video recording, and the world’s fastest autofocus*7 function using the company’s proprietary DFD technology. Panasonic will continue to provide new value to customers through the unique features of the compact yet high-definition LUMIX G series, while also reaching the professional market through the introduction of the full-frame LUMIX S series and the greater reach of our support system.
