Does a pure mono sensor make enough of a difference?

One a different forum there has been a discussion about creating black and white from pure monochrome sensors (like that of the Leica Monochrom, for example).

The discussion grew out of another discussion about using black and whote film.

Here's a mono of mine but taken in colour originally. I'd like to understand how a pure mono image would differ
