Fortnightly Salon Competition No 7

Thanks Josh for running the last competition and for choosing my picture in the midst of so much great competition.

Congratulations to Andrew and Tim for such excellent pictures.

THE THEME FOR THIS SALON IS

B R I D G E S

The closing date for the competition will be noon GMT on the 31st December. I will try to get the results out before the New Year.

Here are the rules. Please take a moment to read them prior to shooting or uploading your submissions.

1) All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/, they can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread.
2) One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant
3) Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else)
4) Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself
5) After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
6) The curator's decision is final.
7) Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8.) If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place
9) These rules are to be copied and pasted with a new theme by the new Curator at the top of the new Salon thread with a finish date and time
10) As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission

Good Luck to you all

Audrey

PS Remember, there is a good prize to be won.

Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No 7

I seem to have loads of pictures of 'Bridges', but thought I would get this Salon started with a slightly different one. This is the largest natural Bridge in the World. Taken on a visit to Lake Powell in Utah.

Very impressive indeed. First time I've seen this one actually.

This is my go. Thought I would throw in a B & W for a change (spot the bridge)

Think this is a better size - must have posted the small one before. Sorry.

Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No 7

Congratulations Audrey on your win

BTW, this is a great theme. I should think it will attract plenty of interest.

My entry is a scene from Venice, which features the obligatory bridge in addition to some other, Venice-y stuff. Shot late in the afternoon, this one has been processed to exaggerate both colour and contrast, but otherwise it's pretty much as I saw it.

Two for the price of one .
This was taken on the River Medway at Teston , the stone bridge dates from the 13th century .

Glad you like the subject. I too have a lot of bridges. There are so many fascinating ones.

BTW Josh where was your photograph taken?

Assuming that you already know it's a shot of London, featuring Westminster Bridge, the South Bank and of course the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben......it looks to me as if he took it from one of the capsules on board the London Eye.

(If Josh now announces that he took it from a hot-air balloon or a helicopter, I'll be slightly embarrassed, but the vantage point is exactly where the London Eye is located )

Spot on. Top of the Eye. Had to work hard to make sure there were no reflections.

Best Regards

Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No 7

My first entry in these. A bit of a tourist snap though most of them don't stop to see this particular view.

Hi Tim, this has the feel of a projected slide

Cool Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No 7

My interpretation (also two for the price of one) .....

The Bridge of Specs across the Bridge of Nose.
