Some flowers

I have been messing about in the kitchen today with club stuff and just wanted to try my hand at some flower photos. Not really my normal stuff but it was fun.

Why thank you Ian

I would like to think that Josh would take it as a compliment that I would try and copy his flower photos. After the day I have had trying to sort out just two photos for this weeks club meeting I just wanted to try something that was just for me. I cannot post the the club one's yet but will do later in the week. I do not really do flower photos but I do remember posting some a few years.

Oh and this weekend I will hopefully be doing some motor sport stuff. A woman at work wants me to take some photos of her boy friend who does sand racing. Been a while since I have done any so if they turn out OK I will post a few here.

Hi Pops

I am pleased you like it. I did not use a gradient on them just used bounced flash set to low power. I set them up on the kitchen table and had a black cloth stuck onto the wall behind then just used low light so as not to blow out the detail in the flowers. Then settings used were iso 200 105mm f22 and a 1.6 shutter speed. I know the iso should have been 100 but I had forgot reset it from another shoot.

There is an argument that supports ISO 200 being an overall better setting for digital sensors than ISO 100...

It's one reason why most Nikon and other Sony-sensor DSLRs start at 200.

Canon could be an exception.

I did wonder why the Nikon cameras started at iso 200 did not know the sony dslr were the same. Can you not set the Nikon to a lower iso ie 50 I think ?. Having said that I have shot at iso 200 before and not been unhappy with the out come.
