New here, I think

I'm Steve from sunny Fort Myers, Florida where it is still unseasonably chilly. I'm a 4/3 person drifting steadily towards micro 4/3. I mostly use a Panasonic GH-1 with the 14-140 lens these days. It's a simply awesome and amazing combination. My photo interests are pedestrian: small plants (tillandsia generally) and large birds. South Florida is the ideal location for both. I'm mostly active over on the Four Thirds User forum but this seems like a place where I'll be equally happy.

Fluffy (for reasons you don't want to know)

Hey Steve, nice to see you here

I was wandering around in short sleaves enjoying the sunshine in Hemel Hempstead yesterday - it was around 16C; that's balmy for us

I've only ever been to Orlando in Florida (for PMA in the years it has been there), so I'm not too sure what unseasonably cold means to you guys?

Ian

Hi Steve,

I'm looking forward to seeing some of your pics ... and I promise I won't ask why you're known as fluffy.

Pol (aka Polly) - shortened from Polonius (the waffler). A nickname bestowed on me by my family ... so my husband is Gert(rude). Ok, I've finished waffling.

Your turn now, fluffy.

Pol

Would someone from Florida know what the term balmy meant when used to describe the weather

Do you Fuffy?

I never knew that Pol.

Actually, my name "Autumn", I have had for years and used it for many things. It came about when we moved house to the top of the town in 1963. We were looking for a name for our house and I tried combining my husbands name with mine. Roy didn't seem to fit, but his second name is Thomas (Tom) so with a bit of author's licence came up to Autumn Top.

When I first joined Tiscali Forum, it asked for a User name, and Autumn was the first thing that came to mind.

I still use it!

Back to Fluffy, welcome to the forum, you are getting to know all our secrets straight away.

I have been to Florida, Kissimee and area and have cruised out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Very nice.

I look forward to seeing your images.

Yeah - it dated back to the time when one of our sons was studying Hamlet for A level and David locked onto the line when Gertrude says "More matter with less art" to Polonius.

So now I know it's really Autom (aka the mighty Atom). eh.

BTW Steve - I absolutely love your very sweet, very precious Rufus. I spotted him over in the FTU gallery. Aaaaaah.

Re: New here, I think

Thanks Ian. During the day 16 is cold, maybe time to think if we still have heat. 16 is about as cold as it gets now at the dead of night. That's low for this time of the year. Days are running about 27 but if it's cloudy that might only be 24. OTOH weather simply doesn't affect me much; I worked on the water all over when I was young and went from really, really cold to really, really hot. On my first job it was kindly explained to me that if heat, cold, rain or anything weather related bothered me I was in the wrong job.

Orlando is about 2-3 hours north and by our standards in a different, colder climate. It's subtropical here at worst.

Thanks! But actually I'm Fluffy in name only.

Quick question: what software is your great bird gallery in (we have no grammar skills over here anymore.)
