Oh and I see big Ron and Alonso are not on speaking terms. Great way to run a team must be all hand signals now that would be fun to watch. Alonso must be on his way out at the end of the season. For all his faults Schumacher was never that unprofessional Oh and I say faults just to keep some of you guys happy .

Re: Formula 1 Spygate.....

bottom of page 108.
"$100m less the money lost through removal of 2007 points. a very considerable sum of money is lost through the 2007 points; that will be deducted and the actual fine will be the difference...."

so, presumably, the points are still tallied and the sum that would've been gained from the final cc position are deducted from the fine. therefore if mclaren were to score more points (even though they're not eligible for points and have had them zero'ed) in the championship than ferrari, the $70m winning bounty is deducted from the $100m fine.
so, as tim initially suggested, if mclaren are still top of the tree after the next 4 races, the payable fine would be $30m. however as they've had all points removed and are not eligible to score points in the remaining races, the cc points for mclaren will be a big fat zero, therefore (presumably) no prize money. so the payout should still remain at $100m

so basic logic isn't applied when it comes to the FIA, as is evident from the 'guilty until proven innocent' approach adopted.

glad that's cleared up!

OK - one final recap just in case I've got the logic completely wrong? The fine is $100m, that's $100m taken out of their actual and possible earnings through to the end of the year? In other words, without the fine they would be $100m better off at the end of the year than with the fine, at the bottom line? I suppose they'd pay less tax....

Re: Formula 1 Spygate.....

that's my (now modified) understanding.
although how the FIA can determine what mclaren would've won as the FIA /WMSC themselves have ruled that mclaren have all their points stripped away and are ineligible to score points for the remainder of 2007 (hence a zero points policy) is anyone's guess!
