Formula 1 Spygate.....

Not long till we find out the outcome.

Anyone know the best site to keep an eye on, I thought the results were going to be in at 1pm uk time?

Fingers crossed the drivers arent penalised.

Hey, guys,

Please post whatever the result may be. The US news doesn't cover F1 except when an aging star moves to Nascar. Thanks.

Ferrari playing tit for tat. What a sad day for F1. The content of the emails sent to McLaren proved Ferrari were not sticking to the rules which got them in trouble, so this is their revenge. Whos pocket are the FIA in. Damien Hill can answer that one. Glad the drivers were not affected.

Well the FIA will use it on road safety courses. making sure Track safety is up to scratch, running costs and I'm sure other things like Max's new yacht.

Yep, if this is the case, then the punishment is ridiculous. I was listening to radio 5 this morning, and Jackie Stewart was saying that 'we dont even know what they are being punished for, and as such, I cannot comment on whether the punishment fits the crime'

In my opinion, this is a pretty sad day for formula one.

I really hope that Ron Dennis and his team are not affected this weekend.

Addition:

Interesting to note that nothing seems to be happening to Ferrari even though they sent the alledged emails in the first instance!

I don't believe everything I read but apparently the emails contained details of a moving floor pan that could be lowered in race to get greater down force. Raised when inspected for ground clearance. The FIA stopped Ferrari from using it, thanks to Dennis forwarding on the email to them. The email also had details of other designs that were allowed and it is these I believe that the FIA have said Dennis had made use of. He could hardly say he had no knowledge of these designs. What I have said here may not be true but that's what I have read on the net.

Re: Oh No!

i think a lot depends on the evidence that the FIA cite in deciding that mclaren had gained an advantage. dennis has been careful to word his replies to "not having gained any advantage" from the allegedly stolen / leaked ferrari doc.
funny, but i though spying was underhand subterfuge, rather than being gifted the info on a silver platter? if the doc was gifted then surely ferrari should be investigating and acting on the alleged theft of the doc by stepney?

As far as I can see, the reasons for the judgment haven't been made public. Surely all the details should be made available for public scrutiny.

I completely agree that the punshment is very inconsistent - $100m and deleting the constructors points while letting the drivers off? This is very convenient for the FIA.

The Ferrari and McLaren car designs couldn't be more different, I can't see how any Ferrari intellectual property has been used in the McLarens.

No matter what the FIA do, they can't erase history and what a joy it was to see McLaren 1-2 at Monza, on Ferrari home turf and Lewis passing Raikkonen's Ferrari where it really hurt the Ferrari tifosi!

And I really hope McLaren stuffs Ferrari again this weekend!

Ian

Well I think you all know my love for Ferrari but thats not how I like to see them win anything. What all us F1fans need and want this weekend is a great race no matter who wins. It will be nice to see spa again and with its new track lay out lets see what the drivers can make of it.

Oh and Ian I think we all knew Mclaren would win last weekend at Monza after all it was a Ferrai but with the wrong spray job . Now running for cover.

Peter - I'm sorry and feel a bit bad about the sentiment I was trying to get across. My vitriole wasn't really aimed at the true fans like you, but at the people in the Ferrari business rubbing their hands with glee at the horrible situation that they have succeeded in creating.
