iPhone shots

I just read an article saying the iPhone 5's camera has problems with a purplish burst in some shots. I plan on getting one soon and hope they correct the problem. I've been pretty happy with the image quality of my iPhone 4. Here's a side-by-side comparison of two shots I recently took. The one on the left was taken with a Canon Powershot SD 1400 IS and the one on the right with the iPhone. Interesting how different they are.

Re: iPhone shots

Were they taken at the same time? The difference in field of view has influenced the auto white balance differently in each shot. There is also more lens flare in the iPhone version.

Re: iPhone shots

They were taken a few minutes apart. The sun is a little lower in the iPhone shot.

I'm looking forward to the iPhone 5. It has a panoramic feature that has generally been well received.

Re: iPhone shots

Every minute makes a difference to the colour rendering at that hour. The lower down the sun goes below the horizon, the more purples and blues get captured.

That's very true - and a valuable thing to point out
