Wow, superb set of pictures! We've never had Moles here but they're around near the village green by the vineyards so we used to bag up the molehills for the garden (in the days when we were more agile).

Your tomatoes are looking good too, worth the work and wait. I admit I miss the greenhouse and homegrown tomatoes but it was just too much to cope with and the annual damage to the greenhouse was getting tedious and dangerous and neither of us is so sure-footed these days.

Neighbours on either side of us eventually gave up on their veggie patches this year. The very wet, cold start to the year made everything so late this year.

Kudos to you for persevering!

A couple of shots from the archives.

The first one is from 2006 and shot through the windscreen as we drove past. It's the newsagent's where our second son used to do a paper round then went on to work on Saturdays and Sundays until he went off to university

This one dates back to 2009 and shows David laying a new path. As a matter of interest for 'Shoppy' - David developed Shingles shortly after this picci was shot.

Love the hat tell David. I could do with one of them when I'm motoring at 4 mph on my scooter.

Here are my weekend jobs. Yes takes me ALL weekend. Cut the grass and clean the scooter.

Worth the effort though because your garden looks good. That's a very nice, sparkling clean scooter too. A 'shoppy' basket too - handy for carrying the spare hat you're gonna buy from Amazon.

David has a thing for hats, bucket hats in summer and Trapper hats in winter. He gets them all from Amazon and the one he's wearing in the picci is a Trapper hat with fake fur lining. They're usually no more than a fiver.

So go on, get a hat and spoil yourself. Pops got one (trapper hat) last year or the year before and Suzie (the dog) was scared of it when she first saw him wearing it.

I don't need a hat to frighten dogs or people come to that. I'm only allowed out after dark anyway. My wife has just got me a balaclava to wear.

Naah yer gorgeous. Yer wife just luvs ya and doesn't wanna lose you to some bimbo so she bought you a balaclava to hide your handsome features.

Gert has a balaclava too. He doesn't wear it anymore since he discovered the fur-lined trapper hats ... he has so many hats I've lost count. Mostly cotton bucket hats and trapper hats and Cossack hats.

One of the first pics off my FZ200 was a snap of David coming through the door wearing a scruffy bucket hat just after he'd shaved his head (but hadn't bothered to shave his face.

The trapper hat was just the job once Suzie got used to me wearing it. Ideal for going out in the garden to feed the birds every morning.
Not be long now before I dig it out again.

I did indeed see those shots and I also commented on them lower down that same page. The one that always gets me is Tyson and how small he is with such a splendid name to reflect his size ... LMAO

I get the impression that most of us responding to this thread are retired, but let's not forget that so many are left working every day. They get ground down too!

Nice ones, agile, fit and healthy with little idea of what lies ahead ... poor things.

David used to take pics of oldies like us and say "that's us in 50 years time" and we used to say 'naaah, we'll never get like that' - but we did.

We had a stair lift installed last November, best thing we ever did too!

Roger I really like the way you have presented your images.

Now Pol I short cut that expense by moving into a single story home. I'm also one for photographing old people sitting on park benches etc. Even though I'm one of them, I still find there is more character in an image of old people, than there is of the young.

I agree about images of oldies though I hate my wrinkled mugshots.

I also agree about the common sense move to a smaller one story home but David won't do it. I think he can't bear to be rid of all his clutter and have the inconvenience of having the place decorated and going through the mayhem of selling and moving (assuming we could find a buyer)

So I've just resigned myself to being here and set about making changes to make life easier as we get older.
