  • All Our Yesterdays

As a follow on to what was a very successful thread "My Image Of The Day", I'm now planning to do something similar which I hope you will also fine interesting, and like wise generate some activity on this forum. This forum unlike many other photographic forums has a gallery in which members have placed their images. Many of the members are no longer active here but their work remains in the gallery for us to view and appreciate. I have started this thread "All Our Yesterdays" in which I will select images from the gallery and comment on them. I do hope you too will join in and comment on what you think of the selected image. I would also like to see images from the gallery that you yourself find extra special and deserving of a few more days of glory.

Here goes then with my first selection.

This image was created by PEDER WINGE (Denmark), who's work always intrigued me. I have had many hours of pleasure viewing his collection of images in the gallery. Peder Winge no longer seems to post here. Great shame as I always looked forward to seeing what he would enter into the Salon Competition. His image here "Baby and daddy feet" got a rating of 9.5 and I have to say in my view this is an outstanding sample of his work.

Please let me know what you think of this image and whether you agree with my comments.
Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right.

Brilliant idea Rod - I used to enjoy the Image of the Day (and I think I was one of the last to post in there). I also enjoyed Eye of the Camera, but that seems to have gone quiet as well.

Someone whose images always made me look twice is Horacio - he always had a different view on things, and his abstracts and minimalist images were always interesting

I like this one because of the lines, the contrast and shadows - simple yet so effective.

      Re: All Our Yesterdays

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Image of the day. I started the same thread on my own person photography forum about a year before doing it here. My forums one is still running and one of our members has used it to post an image every day for a year and is currently continuing to do the same this year.

Your selected image by Horacio is a good choice from his gallery. I always had a hard job getting my head around his images. I found his work rather like some oil paintings. Perhaps it's just me not having an interest in some art forms. None the less He was always posting something different from the rest of us and in a way that was refreshing to see.

Unlike Image of the day, I don't expect to see a new image posted every day. I think perhaps one or two a week will be nice and that will give others a chance to comment or add a selected image of their own. Many thanks Caz for helping me get this thread going.
Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right.

Peder Winge and Horacio are two names in this forum, who I used to follow.
I liked their photography. Stylish and artistic.

Good thread, Ron. I like your idea and hope others will join in.

          Re: All Our Yesterdays

I have selected this image by Autumn who I'm pleased to say is still an active member of this forum. Having earned a crust myself photographing weddings, I appreciate seeing a quality image, with very well controlled highlights, of a couple dressed in white on a sunny beach. Not an easy task as any of you will know if you have encountered these conditions. Well done Autumn this image certainly deserves another showing.

Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right.

I fully agree with your choice here, Ron.
Your explanation is perfectly clear and there isn't a lot that I can add, apart from I think its a great shot for the reasons you have mentioned.

Edit.... I have also photographed a wedding and appreciate the problems involved in blown whites and the need to control them.

            Very nice shot, Autumn.

              A photo by Horacio, SundayII

I particularly like this image for it's strong shapes, strong lines and strong colours. It is bright and warm.
To me it is a photographic art form.
I admire photographers who can see these artistic style of photos. I never seem to be able to.

Here's one from the Golden Gallery ten years ago.

Its only now that I wish I had got to know Horacio and had asked if he also produced images in any other art format. Perhaps he was, and probably still, an artist of some sort. There's no doubt Horacio's work stood out from the norm.

It's a nice image, but who was the author?

Clicking on the photo will give you a lot of info on the shot.

Thanks for that, I had forgot you could get info by clicking on the image.
I can see why you selected this image now. Makes interesting reading on how he went about capturing such a splendid image.

                          Mum's gonna kill me...

I always looked forward to seeing what Stephen and Bearface would post after one of their trips out together. I had many happy hours discussing images with both of them and remember this image that Tim (Bearface) took. Both were professional photographers that loved to do their own thing when not working for a client. Sadly Stephen is no longer with us. I do hope Tim is still around producing super images like the one here.

Never seen this one before, Ron.
But I can see why you picked it.
Being a late comer to the forum, I didn't realise there was a photographic connection between Stephen and ( Tim ) Bearface.

Andrew Thatcher also went out with them on many occasions. Here's a shot Andrew took of them. Stephen left and Tim right. Go into Andrews gallery and read Pols comments on this image.
