Yesterday I visited the canoe slalom at Lee Valley. It was a wonderful day out and it was great to share in all the excitement. Unfortunately the GB contestant did not get into the final but I understand he has won silver medal today, so well done to him.
These pics were taken using the OM-D EM5 along with the m75-300, hired from Ian's hire service.
I only had my telephoto lens with me due to a mistake when packing my camera bag so most of the shots are close ups, although I did attempt a few 'bigger picture' shots as well.

How do our amateur shots compare with a pro using a consumer camera? Over at our Four Thirds User site we have had daily updates to the gallery from the Olympics provided by Panasonic who have given a Lumix DMC-G5 and a bag full of Lumix lenses to Getty photographer, Dean Mouhtaropoulos. You can see his results here:
Excellent shots Shirley. The close up action adds to the excitement and atmosphere. Very well done.
Did you have any problems getting in with a "Professional looking" camera
There are a lot of statements being made on other sites about LOCOG imposing more restrictions. It would be great to have a definative statement made.
Hi Graham,
Absolutely no problems at all. My camera bag went through the scanner and that was it, no further checks or questions. I was using the OM -D with the 75-300 lens, there were people with larger cameras than mine and they had no problems either. I wonder if there is a little scaremongering going on or if it depends on the venue.
Great photos.
I'm also not sure just how correct this is, or how consistently it's being applied, but here's an article on the gear that one (may, or may not) be able to take to venues:
The leaflet regarding restrictions states that photographic equipment cannot exceed 30cm. I had heard that you were not allowed to take in a second lens but this was not an issue as far as Lee Valley was concerned.
It appears that there are different rules being applied to the football venues, not sure why.
Ian asked me to come over here and pop up a few of my Olympic photos. If you haven't guessed I'm new here, and reasonably new to DSLR life and serious photography. So here they are.
