  • A Holiday Memory

    Salon 260 - A Holiday Memory.

Here's what you have to do

    1. Photographs must be displayed within a forum post and posted in this thread. Please keep images to no wider than 1600 pixels and no taller than 1200 pixels.

    2. TWO entries maximum per user ID only, please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.

    3. Comments on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself. In fact, comments are to be encouraged!

    4. After the close, the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.

    5. The curator’s decision is final.

    6. The winner will be invited to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.

    7. If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that ‘honour’ to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.

    8. These rules are to be copied and pasted with the new theme by the curator at the top of the new salon thread with a finish date and time.

    9. To clarify, the copyright of images posted to the forum or gallery become part of the site's copyright, but only for the protection of the owner of the image. The owner of this site will NEVER claim ownership or additional use of any image without the agreement of the owner of the image.

The deadline for entries this time is Midnight Thursday, 31st of March 2019, GMT.

Good theme, Barr1e. Everyone should have something to show in this salon.

I think the problem for me is the sheer volume of material to select from

Not that I'm always on holiday - but a perk of my work is that I travel a lot.

I was in Amsterdam last week and off to Paris on Monday - all work-related.

The first was a canal view in Amsterdam.

The second was the view from the top of Notre Dame.

If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room.

These were taken as slides with my OM1(n). The exif will show an Olympus E5 with which I converted the to digital using an old toilet roll tube to hold the slides.

                    Re: A Holiday Memory

Been rather busy - so sorry!

It's very hard to choose but here are two:

Taken almost 19 years ago, that's one of several small coral islands near my mother's home town of Hilongos, Leyte, in the Philippines.

This was the first time we'd been there with Elizabeth (4) and Lara (2). We'd had an amazing day, including seeing giant coconut land crabs, but this was a little sad as the weather was turning, with a storm in the background and we had to leave paradise.

I used a very early 2.5 megapixel Olympus Camedia C2500L - a brilliant camera in many ways.

Next, this was taken much more recently - Easter last year, during what I suspect could be the last long haul family holiday with the whole family. We spent three weeks in the Far East (including a return visit to the island in the first photo).

So why am I showing this shot? Well, it was quite a sight and it wasn't Paris, nor Blackpool (haha) - and actually, neither was it Las Vegas. Remember, we were in the Far East. So where were we?

                          2nd entry.

Saw these early morning fishermen, while cruising into port.

Entry 1 - somewhat of a working holiday, but nevertheless a very memorable one.

My son's wedding, just above the beach in Spain a couple of years ago.

Thanks for your Holiday Memories – some super images containing colour, buildings and cities.

It amazes me how pictures from years ago still head various forums from around the world.

As the Salon ran I chose the image I thought would win, however another changed my mind. I have to say it was a close run thing until ‘The early morning fishermen’ was displayed

Thanks to you all for entering and I hope you will like the new theme from a worthy winner.

                              Congratulations Garry.
