          Hi Ian
Not sure I am going to bother just now, heard some great things about it but CS3 does more than I want now.

Patrick, I understand what you are saying, and I debated whether to get it or not. Now I have it I have realised that its not about it doing more or that CS3 does more than you need. Its more about doing what you do now, but better. These new Adjustment Layer tools for example are something you can do in CS3, but now they are much easier to use and just by clicking a button you have a new Adjustment layer which you can work on without even thinking about creating one via the menus as before.

I've been working on a photo this afternoon, and its been a revelation. Betcha hardly ever used the Dodge & Burn tools did you, because they were hard to get a good result, and often the image didn't look natural. Well now things do look natural and they give a really good result. I think there is so much more that works better in this version, and of course some of the Wow facter tools like Content aware scaling will blow you away.....arghh, I hate that term

Just a quick question, I have beem looking over a few courses and noticed some offering Adobe Photoshop Ext. CS4 Student Edition (at an very attractive price) ... is this any different to the normal version. My Google skills have failed me today.
                  Thanks

Yes I believe it is the same but you will require proof of being a student to purchase. I have heard of people taking evening class courses to get their students card to buy the program.

I don't know if the licence has to be renewed each academic year or not, or the copy could be dated to run for 3 years the average length of a course.
If either is the case it I imagine defaults to a 30 day trial version when the time is up.

                        Re: CS4 Pricing

The current offer for CS4 Student Edition direct from Adobe is $199, and the offer finishes on the 22 Feb.
Below are copied the requirements to be met to qualify for a Student Edition purchase.
Pretty limiting, especially the "full time instruction" requirement.

                        Eligibility for Student Editions
Only full- or part-time students enrolled at a higher education establishment, defined as an accredited public or private university or college that grants degrees requiring not less than the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time study, or students enrolled at an accredited public or private secondary school providing full-time instruction are eligible to purchase Adobe Student Edition software.

That looks as if it rules out joining an evening class to get a student card.

Is the program date limited as I thought in my reply, or is it after purchase unlimited as a regular copy would be?

Bit annoying that it doesn't mention the price, or did I overlook it! I made a mistake in my previous post - it is only the offer of free shipping that finishes on the 22nd, the $199 continues.
There is no time limit on the Student Edition, and it can be upgraded to the full version, presumably just by buying a full unlock key.
