It's getting close to Bonfire Night here so planning to get out to take some pictures of the fireworks. E-620, EM5 and a monopod available. Any suggestions for settings?

ian did an article last year, however use as low an ISO as possible, set the aperture at about F10 or higher and use long exposure - this will preserve the colours in the spark trails. shoot in RAW, and if you can, swap the monopod for a tripod.

oh yeah, turn autofocus off and noise reduction off and use manual settings for e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.

I'm dusting off that article again and revising it slightly - but you can see last year's here:

        Re: Fireworks

Thanks Dave, I have a tripod available. I took (what I thought) were 'okay' firework pictures years ago on 35mm SLR. Some things stay the same.

when i'm shooting fireworks, the camera is in bulb mode and i use a cable remote to hold the shutter open as long as i deem it necessary based on what i'm seeing. the hard part comes in choosing a lens. if i take the 'big' 70-200 i find i'm shooting at the wide end of the settings to get the decent aerial fireworks in the frame. invariably you'll end up cropping as the fireworks all occupy different parts of the sky.
