London, UK, January 8, 2012 Today, Nikon boosts its COOLPIX range of compact cameras with two new models that are so slender and stylish you'll want to take them everywhere. The colourful S6500 with built-in Wi-Fi, a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and a wide-angle NIKKOR 12x optical zoom lens, lets you share your experiences instantly, connecting to the internet to upload quality shots in seconds. The sleek and stylish S2700 is perfectly pocket-sized, but packs in a NIKKOR wide-angle 6x zoom lens, 16 megapixels, a 6.7 cm (2.7 in.) LCD screen with anti-reflection coating, and HD (720p) movie recording.

"Both the COOLPIX S6500 and COOLPIX S2700 are easy to use models that are ideal for capturing stills and videos when you're on the move, and the S6500 lets you share your results online via WiFi - so your friends and family can see your photos as soon as you've taken them" explains James Loader, Product Manager for Consumer Products at Nikon UK. "The wide-angle zoom lenses on both models mean you can zoom out for group shots or get up close and personal to someone special, while the Smart Portrait System and Glamour retouch options ensure the most flattering portraits possible."

The S6500 Zoom in and share
The COOLPIX S6500 means you no longer have to compromise between image quality and an instant upload. Its 12x NIKKOR optical zoom lens with wide-angle coverage (25300mm) helps you capture precise, high-resolution shots whether you're up close or shooting from a distance, while a back-illuminated 16-megapixel CMOS sensor ensures the lighting is just right, whether you're snapping a sunset, a dusky concert, or a romantic candlelit dinner.

Full HD (1080p) filming is easy, with a dedicated movie-record button which instantly switches from photos to video. Nikon's automatic Vibration Reduction technology also counters the effects of camera shake in real time, leaving you to focus just on your composition.

Once you have the photos and videos you want to share, the built-in Wi-Fi means you can transfer them directly to your smart device(1) ready for uploading to your favourite social media venues. You can also use your smart device as a remote control for the camera, which comes in handy for self-portraits.

The COOLPIX S6500 comes in six vibrant colours: Silver, black, red, blue, white and orange

The S2700 - The colourful way to capture your life
The slender S2700 fits in your hand like it was made to be there, with its 20.7 mm body that comes in a range of delightfully vibrant colours. The NIKKOR 6x optical zoom lens offers high-precision shooting and the 16-megapixel CCD image sensor delivers clear photos and sharp HD (720p) movie clips.

Smart auto functions match your camera settings to your situation, so all you have to do is point and shoot for perfect results. Meanwhile, your subject will always look their best thanks to the Smart Portrait system, with features including Smile Timer, Blink Proof, Skin Softening and In-camera Red-eye Fix. Once you have your shot, choose from eight Glamour retouch options to make portraits even more flattering.

The COOLPIX S2700 comes in a range of colours: black, red, blue, purple with line art, and pink with line art

S6500 - Other Key Features
7.5 cm (3 in.) LCD screen (460k dots): whether you shoot in bright sunlight or low light, this large screen with Nikon's Clear Colour Display technology offers sharp contrast and clear viewing.
Auto HDR mode: allows you to capture images with impressive tonal detail in any situation. In HDR mode the camera combines two shots taken at different exposures during a single shutter release, creating an image with wide dynamic range and rich colour gradation.
Easy Panorama 360/180: pan vertically or horizontally to create dynamic panoramas.
High-speed continuous shooting: capture sharp shots of fast-moving action with ease. Shoot up to seven consecutive shots at a rapid 10 frames-per-second.
Retouch menu: enhance your photos on the spot with a wide range of filter effects, including quick effect mode in playback. Examples include Selective Colour, which converts your image to monochrome and then adds a splash of color to the area of your choice, while Cross Screen adds a starry effect to bright objects.
19 scene modes: automatically optimise the camera settings to produce popular photographic styles and effects. Achieve great shots simply by selecting the mode that best matches your situation.
3D shooting mode: create 3D images that can be displayed on 3D-capable TVs and computers.
Subject Tracking AF: capture sharp shots of subjects in motion. Subject Tracking AF keeps the camera focused on a selected subject, even if it won't stay still.
EXPEED C2: Nikon's fast and powerful image processing system enables high-speed operation, enhanced movie recording, high-sensitivity performance and maximum image quality.

S2700 Other key features
Anti-blur motion blur reduction: reduces the effect of camera shake to compensate for camera and subject movement. High ISO (up to 3200) light sensitivity reduces the risk of blurred images caused by fast-moving subjects or low light, and Best Shot Selector (BSS) automatically selects the sharpest of up to 10 sequential shots.
Retouch Menu: enhance your photos in-camera with a range of filter effects. Includes Selective Colour, which converts your image to monochrome and then adds a splash of colour to the area of your choice, and Cross Screen, which adds a starry effect to bright objects.
Li-Ion battery: rechargeable for longer use and eco-friendliness.
Subject Tracking AF: capture sharp shots of subjects on the move. Subject Tracking AF keeps the camera focused on a selected subject even if it is moving around.
EXPEED C2 image processing system: provides enhanced movie recording, high-sensitivity performance and maximum image quality.
