The next few shots were taken on the outside upper deck of the cruise boat as we meandered down the Thames for lunch. The rear view of the 300D shows the combined LCD view screen and mono segment display status LCD. Here the 300D has one up on the more expensive 10D: when using instant preview mode, it is instant. There is no hanging around waiting for the preview to reach full sharpness. This is because a thumbnail image is created at the same time as the full resolution image when a picture is taken. That thumbnail serves as the preview image and is instantly displayed rather than the camera having to re-sample the full resolution image each time the image is previewed.
