The rear view of the 300D shows the combined LCD view screen and mono segment display status LCD. Here the 300D has one up on the more expensive 10D: when using instant preview mode, it is instant. There is no hanging around waiting for the preview to reach full sharpness. This is because a thumbnail image is created at the same time as the full resolution image when a picture is taken. That thumbnail serves as the preview image and is instantly displayed rather than the camera having to re-sample the full resolution image each time the image is previewed.
