Charles Annen, who hails from California, is also known as 'changeling' on the DPNow gallery and discussion forum. He is an accomplished wildlife photographer specialising in bird photography.
The image he has submitted for the Golden Gallery is an excellent example of the wild bird photography genre. Charles describes his shot: 'A male Belted Kingfisher framed in eucalyptus and a killer bokeh. Captured on a chilly December morning at South Lake in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California.'
And Charles is absolutely right, the creamy defocussed 'bokeh' of the background lets the eye concentrate, without distraction, on the beautiful and exotic bird. The branches frame the view nicely. Technically, you just can't fault the image.

Isn't he almost as gorgeous as the Pied Kingfisher we have locally. One day when I have better glass I will show you a really good shot of one. Excellent framing..
