Here is the post-Algae clean and black-out view of the whole tank. In the past the stem plants have gone pale and brown, though grown fast - if in a straggly fashion. Fingers crossed this was due to NO3 deficiency in the water and, perhaps, less than ideal lighting, both of which are being addressed now.
