This shot by non member Eyal is one that got us talking when it was submitted to the Golden Gallery. Frankly we wondered why the two figures were so sharp and had managed to stay so still during the 4 sec exposure. The 2 fishermen of course add a point of interest and something to rest the eye on, they are a focal point within the photo.
But this is not all we liked about the picture, the light in the sky is superb, and the reflected light in the surface of the small promontory makes for a wonderful mirror like surface. The long exposure mentioned earlier has smoothed the waves somewhat giving that characteristic cloudiness along the edge of the rocks.
You might ask how Eyal managed to achieve such a long exposure. Well the camera was set at f16 and iso 50 for a start, but he also used a 4 stop neutral density filter and a polarizing filter to help give the 4 seconds needed and to control the brightness of the sky.
So there was a good deal of thought and effort went into the picture and this is another reason we thought it worthy of the Golden Gallery. Eyal does not have a gallery yet but we hope he will show you more of his stunning photography by registering and starting his own free gallery
