Richard Crowe has not long been a member of DPNow, joining towards the end of November. However during this short period he has made a marked impression and has had the courage to enter one of his pictures for the Golden Gallery.
This shot is of the inside of the Reichstag building and Richard comments "This was taken on a recent trip to Berlin. The large glass dome has been built on top of the Reichstag, the German parliament building. It is free to enter but takes about an hour and a half to get in. Security at the entrance is like Fort Knox! A spiral walkway has been built around the edge going from the base of the dome up to a viewing platform at the top. This was taken from the top looking down on the centre of the dome. I have used the 10mm end of the lens and I liked the perspective it gives. "
We think its a great example of a mono conversion, but also of using the extreme wideangle of the Sigma 10-22mm lens. The lens accentuates the patterns and curves of the building, something that may not be apparent with a longer lens. There is plenty of human interest though and we are kept busy looking at the reflections and people within the dome. Richard has also been clever and used an HDR effect which allows us to see more of the outside of the building
