Description: This is Mesa de las Vacas in a remote part of northwestern New Mexico just south of the famous Chaco Canyon. This scene shows the mesa lit by the sunset and Mount Taylor just barely visible to the far right.

Taos Pueblo Cemetery

Description: Winter snow at the cemetary at Taos Pueblo. In the background are the ruins of the church originally built in 1619. It was destroyed during the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 that briefly drove the Spaniards out of New Mexico. The church was almost immediately rebuilt. The church was again destroyed in 1847 during the war between Mexico and the United States. The cemetery was in active use until August 2006.

Description: A freak snowstorm in 2006 in Albuquerque produced about 2 feet of snow. These icicles formed as the snow melted and flowed down the "canales" of the flat adobe roof.
